June 2014 Moms

*~* Born To Run June Bug Check In *~*

This is a weekly thread for runners who are due June 2014, that is posted on Mondays. All who run--or who want to start running--are welcome, regardless of mileage, pace, ability, size, shape, or terrestrial status. This is a place to talk about running while pregnant, training, runs, races, gear, recovery, nutrition, and whatever else we can think of.

Anyone who posts here regularly should feel free to start the thread on Mondays if it seems to be missing.

How were your runs this week? Lay it on us...

GTKY: Does your spouse/SO ever run with you?

Re: *~* Born To Run June Bug Check In *~*

  • How were your runs this week? Lay it on us... Starting to wonder if I am done running now. I don't want to be but it has been nice not dealing with the 2 day painful recovery after a run. I plan to go for a slow jog around the neighborhood soon to see how I feel afterwards but I think I am done with the distance runs till July.

I walked for 0.75mi casually with my family this week + a 2 hour zoo trip.

GTKY: Does your spouse/SO ever run with you? DH & I like to spend part of "date days" going for a run on a park trail. We don't run at the same pace but tend to finish around the same time (speed vs endurance). We have raced together a few times, which was so much fun! However, with the kiddos at home is very hard to plan runs together.

  • Good morning!  Had an okay last week with exercise.  I've definitely decided it is time to hang up the running shoes though.  The pressure on my hips and pelvis is just too much that it isn't worth it any longer.  Either way, proud to have made it to ~30 weeks!  I still plan to do low impact things like elliptical/bike/swim.  Gotta keep on moving!
    Mon- 30 min strength
    Tues- 45 min cardio
    Wed- 45 min cardio
    Thurs- 30 min strength
    Fri- 45 min cardio
This weekend became crazy so I didn't do anything besides walk to the dog on Sat/Sun.

I've run with my husband a few times, but he is much faster than me so running with him is not all that much fun because he pushes me (which is fine) but he expects me to talk at the same time.  He did run my 5k PR race with me though.  I definitely wouldn't have PR'd if he didn't run with me.  I really like running alone though - it's my time to crank up my music and think or not think.

i went for a 4.5 mile run yesterday which was the farthest i have run in a looooooong time!  i had to take a bathroom break half-way through, but i finished!  i feel sore today so i will go to a prenatal yoga class to help with recovery.

no way!  DH abhors running!  we do a lot of other activities together (surf, board, bike, etc.) but running is my thing :)

@Kinipela7 congrats on running for as long as you did!  i hope i can make it that far :)

  • My runs this week: Good, ran 3 times, 8ish miles total. Feeling good still.

Gtky: I started running because DH ran. He lost 80 lbs before we met, and although I hate running I wanted to try a 5k. Now I'm hooked! We don't run together much anymore because I have to go so slow, but he pushes me, and I run faster and feel less tired with him.

    Proud of you ladies!
  • How were your runs this week? Lay it on us... I'm very happy with my runs this week. I had two 3-mile runs on the treadmill and an 8-mile run with my group out on the trail Saturday morning. I also did my first yoga class on Wednesday. Feeling very grateful to still be comfortable running for the most part. I'm probably signing up for a 5k in April just for fun, so we'll see how that goes.

GTKY: Does your spouse/SO ever run with you? Not really. I'm a bit too chatty for his taste, haha! But we race together and sometimes he'll have me help pace him because he typically goes out of the gate too fast and has a hard time reining it in during the first half of a race. I'm going to try to get him to do a half marathon with me this November.

@lola4411 Thanks! It was slow, but I felt good afterwards aside from some mild soreness in my hips the next day. Hoping this keeps up for a little while longer!

  • Got in a 2.5 mile power walk tonight since I can't run anymore. I had to pee right as I finished too! Good timing!! I was in the best mood today because I knew that I was going to the park tonight and it was like 60 here in Atlanta! I usually put away my bitchy hat when day light savings ends! LOL! It felt soooo good to be back on my normal trail! I have a 5k on Saturday that I'm really looking forward to.

Hubby and I used to go for runs together, but our schedules don't always work out. We do crossfit together though which I love. It's nice knowing you will always have at least one person encouraging you through the WOD.

    Hooray for daylight!!!
