Also, not sure if you want Wellie-style or are open to options. I just got DD Baby Boggs on clearance at REI, and I think they're adorable! But there's no matching raincoat. https://bit.ly/1fQpz0r
Someone tell me why DD would need rainboots and a raincoat? I don't own either, so I'm sure that I can't justify getting them for her. Do they go outside in the rain at daycare or something, or is it just because they're cute?

Really cute was my initial reasoning, which is why I held off on buying them. But this week, the kids are going out to explore what's left of the snow, and DD has no snow boots, so it seemed to make more sense to buy rain boots that she can wear now and throughout spring. DS has rainboots that he got for his bday. He loves them and wears them every.single.day, raining or not.

James started wearing raining boots last spring, so 2 years old, to play outside after it rained. Jump in the puddles, kid stuff. We get a lot of rain so it was handy to put him in boots instead of shoes that I didn't want to get ruined/super dirty. His playground at school is rubber flooring so it isn't a daycare thing. He loves wearing rain boots so it is just a fun thing for him. He wears them when we are out running errands if it has rained or to school in the rain but I put sneakers on him when we get into school. I put Leo in them sometimes when James is wearing his just because it is cute. He doesn't ever walk in parking lots.
Oh, and I have never bought rain jackets. We use spring weight jackets and baseball hats. I have a big umbrella that we all fit under if it is really raining hard. I might buy some this year for the cute factor.
Wait, is it supposed to rain for rain boots to be worn? Because my son has clearly not figured that out. And we buy rain boots for the girls purely for cuteness reasons. It rains like 6 days a year here.

Yeah, DD pretty much yells "BALL" and runs to the front door as soon as she wakes up every day. She doesn't understand when I say "Not today, it's 36 and raining out" so I want her to be able to go outside once the rain stops without soaking her feet. A raincoat would be just for cuteness, but the boots make sense to me.
We are the crazy people who go out and play in the rain, the dogs need to go out and if my house is going to smell like wet dog anyway I want to jump in the puddles and have a little fun before the stink. Plus spring in the upper mid west is muddy and I think snow boots are hart too clean. Rain boots are super easy to hose off.

That IS adorable. I feel like a rain trench would get wear as an all-around spring jacket, not just on rainy days, making it less of a splurge. I might have to go for the navy one
