Baby proofing bar stools?

So LO pulled over a bar stool today. We only have 4 but use them often (they are at the breakfast bar in the kitchen). Has anyone dealt with this? How do you baby proof a bar stool?

  • We have the same problem. I've considered putting them away, but we use them frequently too.

  • Me and my H were JUST talking about this...No idea what to do. Sorry I'm no help but hoping someone has a good suggestion! :)

  • Ouch poor LO! I have no advice really but for mine she hasn't pulled them over yet but for other things she has tried to pull up on and can't cause it's not stable enough she quit doing it after taking a couple tumbles. It sucks to see them hurt themselves but I feel this is a case where they have to live and learn a little. Perhaps this is a FFC or a UO.

  • @nech0606 - I would put them up but we really don't have anywhere they could go. I suppose I could cram them in the office. I wish we had basements here, lol.

@schell2013 - I kind of know what you mean. He really scared himself when it came crashing down yesterday, so we will see if that was a big enough deterrant.

for everyone else - I've been doing research and it seems like the biggest suggestion is to put the bar stools away (not really an option for us). The search continues....

  • I have an idea, but have no idea how to put it into practice (or if it would even work). And it wouldn't look very pretty.  Could you use some fabric, or a strong rope, etc. and basically tie the rope around the stool and secure the other end to the breakfast bar itself, making sure there isn't enough slack in the rope to enable the stool to completely fall over?  Like I said, completely impractical I'm sure, but it's all I've got besides putting the stool away or letting LO learn a hard lesson.
