WCM-diarrhea?

Anyone else's LO having a hard time with WCM? We started transitioning about a month ago...and then she had the flu and a terrible infection for three weeks.

Now that she's healthy and on the mend, I've been adding a little to each of her bottles of formula. She has horrible runny stool every time. She tolerated yogurt and cheese and other dairy just fine. Not WCM. I tried the Lactose free milk today and the same thing happened.

Full disclosure- I'm lactose intolerant and have IBS. WCM is the only thing she's had a hard time with. Her gut is pretty tough with everything else.

Anyone else having this issue?
Our little Samosa arrives in January!

Re: WCM-diarrhea?

  • My doctor told me that if DS ate cheese and yogurt that WCM wouldn't be an issue. I will say though that WCM changed his poop for a couple days but nothing too crazy. I now find that when his poop changes he is getting teeth or he is getting another cold. Good luck, I hope it sorts itself out soon.

  • We had a terrible time at first!  DS became a very finicky eater, would randomly spit-up these really rancid smelling spit-ups, and then he got really light colored poops. He had projectile vomit one day and there awful diariah that was really light in color and smelled SOOO bad.

Since he had been eating yogurt and cheese for a while, I didn't know it was the milk at first.  But then googled beige poop and learned that it was a dairy overload problem.  I cut out all dairy completely for about two weeks and he was fine within a couple days.  Then, I started re-introducing dairy being very careful not to let him have more than two servings a day.  That means if he has milk and yogurt at breaky, he's done with dairy for the day.  Or if we are going to have something with cheese later, I make sure he doesn't have yogurt in the morning.  Ever since regulating how much dairy he gets in a day, he's been fine.  But it was pretty bad for those first two weeks.

This was us too. I was giving DS too much dairy as well. Now he gets no more than 20 oz total including nursing. I can always tell by his beige poop when he's had too much milk.
