T-shirts for a 3 month old or stick to onesies?

I'm a bit lost and want to have clothes prepared for the first 9 months (I live abroad and need to order clothes while on a short trip to the States). For my little boy-I see a lot of t shirts online for 3 months olds-do they wear these often or are onesies the way to go until they are about 6-9months? I'd like to be sure he's comfortable and to keep things easy for me, just wasn't really sure at what stage he would be wearing t-shirts and pants rather than onesies and bodysuits! Thanks...

FTM here, but I would think a onesie would be ideal because that way it can't ride up and leave their tummy exposed. The only exception would be maybe the first week or so when you may not want a onesie rubbing against the umbilical stump.

We CD so I thought with DS that I would want t-shirts so I could see his cute diapers. I found them to be a pain until he could sit up at 6 mo because they always rode up. He was in the 9 mo size at that point. Onsies and sleepers were much better.

We preferred onesies as well. If we had a cute t-shirt we often put it over a onesie. There is just something about them that make it easier. If you do cloth diapers, you will probably go up in sizes a little sooner because they are bulkier.

I still prefer onesies or other one piece outfits at that stage.

I preferred onesies until my daughter potty trained. It was a bummer covering up the cute fluffy butt, but we never had trouble with sizing due to cloth diapers.

Thank you! Yes I bought a few Kimono tops for the newborn stage. I guess I'll only buy a few t-shirts for 6month-9month stage, and keep mostly to onesies...

I think it's personal preference. I find separates to be easier to put on the baby. Since it'll be July when the baby is 3 months old, I like t-shirts and shorts. I also know that the weather can be warm or cold in April when the baby is born so I want some outfits for both cool and warm weather.

I found tshirts (and dresses) annoying until DD could walk because they always ride up. We stuck to onesies with pants and sleepers until she was 12m old. I also hate pants for the first 3-6m, one piece outfits are much easier.

I agree, one piece outfits are the best! Our boys wore a ton of them, plus we think they are super cute!
