Baby fell down the stairs

I feel like a TERRIBLE parent. My baby is 10 months old and I took my eye off her for a split second and next thing I know, she fell down the stairs, head first. She fell down 6 steps before I caught her and picked her up. So far, I dont see any bruises or abnormal bumps. She is acting normal.

Has this happened to anyone? I am not a bad parent.

I fell down when I was a baby and my head went through the front door. Apparently I didn't even cry, just seemed surprised.
It happens.

When I was around 5 I for some reason was in such a hurry after my bath to get downstairs that I was putting my underwear on at the top of the stairs and down I went head first. I was fine, a little bruised, a lot scared. And I learned my lesson to never get dressed at the top of the stairs.

If you're worried call the pedi. They'll tell you if you need to look for anything else or if they want you to bring LO in for a check. I call first all the time - I even called about a bad diaper rash and the nurse didn't even talk to me like I was crazy.

Accidents happen. Im glad your lo is ok. That said, I hope you are (have) installing (ed) a wall mounted gate at the top of your stairs

My middle child fell down the stairs when my youngest was just 5 weeks. He was at the top and bent over to pick up something he'd thrown down and fell head-over-ass 15 hard wood steps. It was horribly scarey. He slowly lost consciousness and I called the squad. We went in via ambulance and he didn't respond to anything at all until they did a rectal temp on him. Then he finally cried. They did a cat scan and an abdominal ultrasound. He was fine. No egg on his head even. Crazy! Kids can be so pliable. I hope your bub was ok.
