How long was your LO in newborn size diapers?

My girl is 2w5d old - about 8lbs - she's still wearing NB but I'm curious when did yours graduate to size 1?

Re: How long was your LO in newborn size diapers?

  • Mine started in size 1 -- 8lb 14oz at birth.

  • DD only wore newborns in the hospital. She went to 1s at home. DS is a month and still wearing newborns.
  • We wanted to use up the one pack we had but it was only about a week. My LO was 9lbs 6oz at birth.

  • We moved up to size 1 at about 8.5 lbs. partly because we ran out of the NB size. I'm glad we did, far less leakage now.

  • LO was born at 9lb 5 oz. she was too big for newborn butt covers

  • She is in newborn sized prefolds (cloth), but they go up to about 12-13lbs I think. But she is up 3lbs from her birth weight already, sooo I'm thinking she will be upgrading to the infant sized ones pretty darn quickly.

We actually went straight from preemie to size 1. But I know we're a special case, we needed to have diapers without the cord dip.

  • LO is 6 weeks and we are still using newborns. Although, I believe we are between sizes. She's leaking out of newborn almost every time she poops, but the size 1s are way to big around her legs and just leaks out of those too.
  • LO was 8lbs 10oz, the nurses started right with size 1 in the hospital. We tried some newborns at home (I had bought a small pack to have on hand), but they didn't work, so we returned to size 1.
  • DS is 2 weeks today. We have one pack of NB left and I won't buy anymore. He's ready for size 1s.
He was 7.7 at birth....no clue what he is now.
  • LO is a little over 3 weeks. Weighs around 9 lbs 4oz. Were still in Newborn Up & Up Target diapers!

  • My LO transitioned to size ones after we ran out of nb about day 10 (the day after her stump fell off coincidentally) and has only had a few leaks and that was DH's fault for not making it snug enough. she was just 8Lbs at her 2 week visit. Hope that helps.

  • We are still using newborn diapers. DD is just over 2 weeks old and is 8 lb 13 oz. She is long and slim like DS was which I think is a factor. I think we have one pack left and when those are gone, we will just move up to size 1.

  • We switched to 1s around 2 1/2 weeks. Birthweight was 7lb 14 oz-which she was back up to at about 10 days. Not sure where she was at when we switched, weight wise.

Our Angel was born sleeping at 20 weeks due to IC.

  • A week. He's 4 weeks old and wearing 3 months. Not 0-3mo, but 3months. He's quite a big boy! I cried when he stopped wearing NB.
  • LO is 5 weeks old and around 8lb 8oz. We are still in NB until this case runs out! Last week, size 1 were still swimming on her so I ordered more NB. No blowouts and she's tall and thin... Because small. :)
  • LO was 9lb 5oz at birth, we used the few small packs of newborns we had but didn't open a big box we were gifted, exchanged it for 1's at a week and a half.
  • LO just hit 10 lbs 2 oz and is still happily wearing NB size, but she's a really long baby (aka "small" around the middle) ETA: and she's 5 weeks old today

This is exactly like my LO who is 5weeks 3days old today! The size 1 diapers are way to big where the sticky tabs overlap on her. 2 weeks ago she was up to 9 1/2lbs so I'm guessing she's just over 10 by now! Just has a tiny waist but is super long!

  • LO is up to 9lbs now at 8 weeks :) to be honest we have a drawer filled with newborn and 1s, all diapers we received from my BFF and SIL that there kiddos out grew. I'm frugal like that so we just use what ever we grab. He is at the weight that both sizes work just fine :)

  • We just started using size 1s because the NBs were leaking.  He is somewhere in the 7.5-8 lb range.
  • We were in preemie until about 3 weeks, then NB until about 6 weeks and now he's getting to the top end of
    Size 1 at 10 weeks.

Aren't 0-3 and 3 months the same thing? I thought it was just companies using different terms (similar to how some use even numbers and some use odd numbers for women's sizing?)
  • Our LO is about 8lbs 9oz and 5 1/2 weeks and still wearing nb.  I order diapers through Amazon subscription and just changed the subscription today to size 1.  We will use up the rest of the nb size diapers and then attempt the size 1.  I figure if they are too big I will just get another small pack of the nb size.  She is also still in nb clothes and has a small waist (totally not like her mommy lol).

  • LO was 9lbs 10 oz a at birth so she wore 1's right away. She's just over a month old and I think we are going to switch to 2's, she's already in her 3 month old clothing too. She's a big girl.
  • @hopeful0328
At least for my LO 0-3 months and 3 moths are different sizes. Each manufacture has their own dimensions and body type they fit, but when I hold up a 0-3 to a 3 month, there is a visable difference. It is hard enough for women's clothing, let's add that difficulty to infant clothing >.<

If I stretch out a 0-3M, my LO can wear it, but in general they are too small. A 3M, or large fit, while a 3-6m is too big, but passable for till laundry is done ;)

  • At 3 weeks, 8 and 12oz. The newborns "looked better" but kept leaking so we over lapped the tabs on size 1. problem (mostly) solved!!
  • Also started in size 1 - 9lb, 3oz at birth
