Cooler packs for breastmilk?

My job has a pumping room with a refrigerator in there for us to store our milk and supplies. This is probably a stupid question, but since my pumped milk will be fridgerated during the day, do I need to bring the storage pack to keep my milk cool on the way home from work or could I just skip the freezer pack and throw the bottles of milk in my purse since it would only be a half hour drive? Or is that too much time for not being cooled? I am trying to limit the number of items I bring into work with me as I work in a downtown area and have daycare there so already have to carry a lot from the parking ramp I use... Thank you!

Re: Cooler packs for breastmilk?

  • I would say it depends on the climate where you live and how good the ac is in your car. I would be wary of spoilage. Plus if you have a 30 min drive alone I'd say that milk will be out a good hour by the time you pack the baby up at daycare, load everyone and everything in the car and unload at home. Plus you are gonna need a bag to carry with your pump and parts anyway. I carry a messenger bag with my pump, a small soft cooler with ice packs for the milk and a another taller skinny one for my assembly which I keep in a Ziploc in the cooler all day so I don't have to wash in between.

  • Forgot to say I just use 1 assembly for the day. I pour my milk into storage bags.
