Im also on the WTE site and they are having a serious discussion about tv time.
Alot of the moms are super against having the tv on at all when LO is in the room. I think that is a little extreme because besides the colors and sounds catching their attention, they dont actually sit and watch tv, at least mine doesnt for more than a few minutes.
I do agree that tv time should be limited when they are a little older just to make sure they are getting enough stimulation.
What is your view on having the tv on throughout the day? What age will you start limiting tv time?
Re: TV
I find tv annoying. Even TLC has sold out to reality. There's nothing educational on. It's all crap.
IMO, at this age she is intrigued by the colors, sounds and movement. I think that's a good thing. Everything she sees is new to her.
I'm not opposed to children watching a moderate amount of TV but I really want to try and limit it.

The big one watches one or two shows most mornings. The babies don't "watch" any - meaning I don't ever purposefully set them down in front of it. I don't mind if they're in the room, but I usually face them away.
We had a larger issue w iPads and iPhones than TV. The big one much prefers them bc he can start, stop and replay streaming video, etc. it got to the point where he'd throw a fit every time we turned it off. So we stopped turning it on - problem solved.
Fwiw, the big one didn't watch any kiddie content (excluding sports and incidental TV) until 20-22mo and then it was sparingly until prob 2.5yo when he took a real interest. Fit throwing peaked around 3.5yo and we've cut way way down on screen time since then.
LO seems curious when he sees TVs at other people's houses or when we're out.
I'm trying to have him watch no tv before 2, maybe even 3. Emphasis on trying.
Now that DS1 is 2.5, he watches one show around 2pm for 30 min and another show for 45 min after dinner. If DS2 happens to be around when it's on, NBD.
I probably get to watch 4 hours of TV a week...with work, babies, house stuff...I just don't have the time.
I miss tv!

The tv is on a lot, though I don't watch it a lot, I just like background noise. LO doesn't really pay it too much attention. In the morning when we first get up I'll put her on her giggle garden and put on a cartoon while I eat breakfast . She usually only looks at the tv occasionally but at least if she's looking it's kid appropriate. I'm not worried about it right now, but we will limit tv once she's old enough to really pay attention to it.
