I would ask your doc. If you have been vaxed and/or already had the worrisome illnesses, that would help protect your LO. There are things out there, and not all can be immunized against, that are common among the toddler crowd but dangerous for pg ladies. Pretty sure at least one of the ailments covered in the MMR shot are dangerous when pg as well...a 7 monther wouldnt have had his mmr anyways though.

  • I don't know if they did the rubella immunity I never asked? no my baby def won't be around hers I just don't know how to tell her she's my bf but I don't want to upset her even though she knows I'm against her decision! I don't want my child in danger because of her choices but she can't be persuaded.
  • I reminded her about the measles outbreak today and she says " I'll be careful" ....

I think rubella would be the primary concern, if you don't have immunity. Even people who have been vaccinated can not have immunity and rubella + pregnancy = bad. Like bad bad.

That's the one from the MMR that I was thinking of. I knew there was one that was baaaad to get when pg.

OP, MMR (measles shot) isnt à shot she has skipped yet if her kid is 7 mos. DS got it at a year.

  • Ok sorry for a stupid follow-up question, but what about after DS is born? A good friend of mine has a 2 and 4 year old and isn't vaccinating. DH and I are assuming we cannot take DS around my friend's kids until DS has had all of his own shots over the next year or so. Right? DD is nearly 2 and I'm assuming with all the shots she's had so far she can be around my friend's kids but I still just feel uncomfortable. We have an appt with DD's pedi on Friday so I planned to discuss then.

I asked my pedi what he would do with his kids if he had any. He said he would not take his newborn out into public places for the first two months (restaurants, grocery stores etc).

Then he said he would not knowingly allow kids that aren't vaccinated around his kid until it was 2 years old.

He would however go to zoos museums and other public places (after the first 2 months). He just wouldn't let someone he knows that doesn't vaccinate around his kid.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • My doc verified my immunity early on in the pregnancy, I think it's pretty standard for pregnant women.  I wouldn't worry about being around the infant yourself (as long as they're not sick), but I definitely wouldn't bring my child around kids known to not have vaccines, and frankly, around adults that have those kinds of attitudes.
