Jumperoo

So my LO has been using his jumperoo since he was about 4 months. He is now 9 1/2 months and is crawling, cruising and even trying to take steps on his own. I still put him in the jumper when I get a shower. He is on the highest level and his feet are very close to being flat again. So my questions are at what age do you give up the jumperoo? And if no jumperoo what do you do with LO when showering?

Re: Jumperoo

  • DD hasn't been content in the jumperoo since becoming mobile. I shower during naps, after bedtime or when DH is home. If I had to shower and none of those were an option, I'd put her in the high chair and bring her in the bathroom with snacks n toys for entertainment.

  • My LO is about the same level of mobility and is only semi-interested in the jumperoo. Lately, she's been happier in her high chair with some toys to chew on when I need her to be still and safe for a short time. I shower in the evenings after the kids are in bed. Or, sometimes when I first get home from work and LO has fallen asleep in the carseat, I'll just leave her sleeping and shower quickly. (She's still in her infant bucket seat, so I bring that inside.)

J hasn't been in his jumperoo for about a month. I shower at night or 1st thing in the am when DH can watch him.
  • Shower when DH is home or DS is asleep.

  • I try to do it when H is still home in the morning, or during her first nap. If not I would put her in the pack n play with some toys. I haven't done the high chair thing, but that's a good idea too. I wouldn't be able to leave her in her crib awake because she is always getting her legs caught.

  • DD has been out of her jumparoo for about a month and a half. I have the pack and play in the living room to pop her in for a few mins. if needed. I usually have a shower when DH is home or during a nap.

  • Is it bad for them to use the jumperoo once they're flat footed?

  • S is still on the first level, but we haven't used her jumparoo in a couple weeks, mostly because she doesn't like not being able to move and gets really pissed. We have a north states baby gate set up that I stick her in sometimes if I need to shower or get something done.

I use the pnp with a bunch of toys. The toys don't occupy him for long because he just likes to pull up and stand at the edge. We only rarely use the jumperoo because he is over the weight limit. I should probably put it away. :-/

Once they become flat footed they aren't supposed to be using it. Eta- I'm not sure about the specifics, but it says right on ours not too.
I tried to research this when J out grew his... I couldn't find anything so I asked on here and the answers kinda scared me (bad on the joints, etc) so I put it away.
  • My DD hasn't been in hers since she was 8 months. I usually shower when she is in bed, but if that isn't an option I would put LO in their crib with some toys and leave the lights on so they know they don't have to go to sleep.

  • Thanks ladies! I'm going to pack up the jumperoo today and try having him play in his crib while I shower! Wish me luck!
