1 side or both

I'm not due until April, but I am so confused about BF. Am I supposed to feed using 1 side or both sides during a session?
happily married since 2009, SAHM
diagnosed with unexplained infertility, regular cycles
Baby #1: ttc naturally for 3 years, 6 yr old daughter
Baby #2: ttc naturally for 2 years, 2 yr old son
Baby #3: ttc naturally since August 2016

    It's a personal preference. I prefer only one side per feeding, but we have switched it up quite a bit over the past 7 months depending on growth spurts, how full my breasts feel, LOs satisfaction, etc. We are back to one sided right now and I'm hoping to keep it that way.

    Does it effect the amount of milk production at all?

    It depends on your baby and their needs. My LO has always taken one side. I have offered the other and he refuses or gets too much and spits up a lot! So we have stuck to one side per feed. Other mamas offer the 1 st breast, burps baby then offers 2nd breast.
