Baby shower etiquette

I'm having two showers thrown for me at week 22. This is very early, but due to living out of state it was the only time we could manage this. I'm wondering what my job is? I've never had any type of shower thrown for me and I feel like I should be doing something to help! What are my responsibilities?

    Speaking of etiquette, do you give your host ( or hosts) a thank you gift?

    It's customary in my circle to get the hostess a gift of some sort and give it to her after most people are gone from the shower. (I think my SIL purchased me a picture for our house, but she knows me better than most people so knew my taste), but a lot of people get mani/pedi gift certificates or massage certificates.

    I will also be doing thank you cards, which is sadly only done about 50% of the time with the showers I've been to in the last several years.
