An app you've got to try!

I know this was posted really early on in our pregnancies cause that's where I heard about it, but the mybabybeat app is sooo cool! I've had it for a long time, but I could never get it to work for more than a few beats... Tonight, it worked!!! I'm pretty sure little baby girl was sleeping, so she wasn't kicking around and it found her heartbeat, let me record it, and message it to my husband and mom! Technology is sooo crazy! Just make sure you have your phone on airplane mode to keep wifi signals away from your LO! Call me a SS, but I wanted all of you to know about it!

  • That's the one I posted :) glad to hear it's working for more people as we get further along!

  • I can't seem to get a reading on the HB, just a lot of interference, but it always seems to make her kick and move around more when I use it.

  • @jshrop same here! Lots of kicking and I have no idea if I heard the heartbeat or not

  • I've picked up the heartbeat a few times, but Junior did not want to be disturbed tonight. He kicked my phone every time I pressed it against my belly!
  • Oh my god I didn't even know it existed, I downloaded it and am pretty sure I caught the heart beat like a little train :D
  • @ElTrain5 Yes! You are the one that deserves the credit!  Thank you!

I usually get a lot of interference, and it almost always makes her kick so then I just hear a lot of that... but last night she must have been extra cozy.  Normally, I would just a few beats in a pattern, but this was very obvious that I was in the right spot!

  • I want to try!  My girl runs away from it all the time at the doctor though so I would have a really hard time trying to get it I think!

  • I wish they had an android version! The only ones you can get for android require you to buy a separate doppler to go with it. Though I think I remember someone saying you could use the speech recognition tool on android phones to simulate it? I can't recall the specifics, but if anyone does I'd be interested to know!

Do you need to use headphones or will the phone speaker work? ETA: This never worked for me with Dd, but I want to try again.
  • @lilnunz1 you can use either. I was I a quiet room and found the speaker more than loud enough- was actually turning it down a bit
  • So I just love this app and also used it to hear my dogs heartbeat-might sound nuts but was very entertaining 8-}
  • Mine wouldn't allow me to plug in the headphones with it.

  • ok i found the heartbeat!  i think when i first tried i was listening to it but just didnt realize it because it isnt nearly as clear as at the doc.  very cool app and worth the $5.  make sure you lie down when you try it, dont just recline.  it made a difference for me.

  • Another tip I found is that is truly takes like 10 seconds to "stabilize" so if you move it to a different part of your stomach, wait a good 10 seconds for the static to stop and then you might get a beat!

@JNerd I was bragging about the app at lunch and everyone at work wants me to get it out and try it... I'm not sure I am ready to let my belly all hang out in front of everyone though!

  • Love the app! Just bought it and tried it and found a steady heartbeat right away, he was cooperating :). I'm 24w3d it won't let me listen via speaker, just headphones for some reason. But I can record and play back on speaker.

  • I cant find it it doesnt seem to be available for android phones :(

There's also an android one... let me track it down

Edit: Nvm... I can't find the one I saw a few months back and the only other ones I can find are meant to be used with a home doppler. :(

@sarahs11 I was able to get it to work through the thin panel of mat pants. If the panel is thick maybe try rolling it down and going through a thin shirt?

I can't find LOs HB with it and haven't been able to since I bought it several weeks ago :-/

I wouldn't worry I haven't been able to get a heart reading since the very first day I got it. Everytime I use it now baby kicks the phone and keeps moving, I don't think he's a fan
