Another sick baby question

So B had croup almost 2 weeks ago and seemed to be getting better. She still had the cough for a few days but wasn't nearly as miserable. The cough started turning into a wet mucus cough which she's had for almost a week now. No fever just the gross cough.

Am I the crazy paranoid parent if I call the doc again?

  • Hope it's nothing to bad and she starts feeling better soon. I also agree that it never hurts to call.

  • Poor B I hope she is okay!

  • Thanks!! She's clingy and moody and I'm slammed with work and she only slept for a total of 40 minutes today (hence the Cadbury egg I had to eat). I'm sure I'll get there and pay her $20 copay and get "it's just a cold" but she's been sick tooooo long now.

  • Agree 100% @BrooketheCat.

  • No meds. She said I can give her honey and Vicks vapor rub on her chest. She said if she gets any worse or starts running a fever to call immediately.

The bronchiolitis itself isn't contagious which is good. But it typically lasts 3-4 weeks, blah!

  • Hope it doesn't last that long and she gets better soon!

  • I told her that after her pertussis and it worked for more than a year @LuckySquare :)

No nebulizer @RVASC811. Now that you mention that, I wonder why they didn't suggest one. We're at least a week in, praying it gets better from here.

  • This is out second time with croup and we are only several days behind you. Ashley still has a little wet cough too. I have been told both times that there is a residual cough that shouldn't last longer than two weeks but could take two weeks to go away which according to my doc is okay. If it doesn't feel right though for sure call.
  • 101.1. Fuckkkkkkkk. Just gave her some Tylenol. I guess I'll be calling in the morning. :(

    Soooooo....I almost never take temps.

I mean, I do sometimes but it's rare. I just base what I do on how warm they are and how they're acting.

    Early FFFC?
B hated the thermometer (we were doing under arm). I mean loses her mind screaming. We tried the ear one, again with the psycho screaming. So last time she was sick DH went out and bought one of the infrared forehead ones. It doesn't even touch her. $65 but worth it.

I just want her to get better. The coughing terrifies me. She keeps making that whooping cough sound which is a nightmare for me. I keep telling myself the docs said there's no way she'd get it again, but I'm crazy paranoid. And she's clingy and cranky and I just feel terrible. :(

  • Double ear infection. Antibiotics. They told me 40% of kids w bronchiolitis develop an ear infection. B just had to double it up.

    This poor kid :(

  • Poor thing. I hope she gets better soon and you have no more visits to the doctors for a long time.

  • Thanks everyone. She seemed a bit better today. No more fever. Those antibiotics work fast!
