Sewing, quilting, knitting, crochet, embroidery, what else? What project are you working on for your little one?
I'm working on a yellow and brown tie quilt. It will be my first quilt so we'll see how it goes but I'm really excited about it and getting a lot of other crafty ideas. I saw some waterproof fabric ideas at Joann today and would love to make a changing pad or bib out of those. One thing at a time though!
So what are you making? Feel free to share pictures of your progress!
I think I'm going to make the crib sheets, changing pad cover, and some curtains. I'm also going to make another carseat canopy. My sister is due in June and asked me today to make her some valances.

I love the idea for a car seat canopy! If the quilt goes well I'll have to try that next.

They're pretty easy. It's one of my go-to gifts now to make friends having babies
I forgot to say I'm sure I'll make rail covers for baby girl's crib too.
I'm doing the painting but in peach/gray/cream. I started it yesterday so I'll share some photos when I'm done. I also plan to make this flower monogram when the supplies show up in the mail. I made her a headband holder from some DIY thing on Pinterest(from an oatmeal container).
I'm making the majority of the nursery decor and some of the accessories to match. We are used to girl nurseries and DH was bummed he would never get his superhero nursery because of all girls but he got his son and now he will get his dream nursery! We wanted more of a baby/toddler superhero nursery not everything for bigger kids. I'm having fun. I'm doing lighting, pictures, baskets, & even his name will be superhero lettering!
I have had all the fabric for a quilt since October, but I have no idea if/when I'll get around to it. I also have plans to make a wooden pennant banner with his name on it to hang on the wall.
I'm making a quilt and possibly some clothes. We want to make a mobile but I'm still sourcing the materials I want for it, so we shall see. And then I might make a stuffed animal or two as well.
I will be making a fleece knot blanket once we get out to choose the fabric. My sewing machine is out of commission currently, but I have some projects I want to do if it gets up and going, but for now the knot blanket is all I for sure am making.
I have a blanket in progress, and I have knit a couple pairs of small socks. We are team green, and I thought a cute thing to do on the day of my C-Section is this announcement to my Facebook friends and family using a pair of pink and a pair of blue knit socks: "We are on our way to the hospital with these two pairs of socks. One will come home, and the other will be donated. Stay tuned!" -- Then later we'll post a pic of two tiny feet in either the pink or blue pair of socks. The other pair I will ask a nurse to give to another family there who either had a boy or a girl.
Now that we know LO is a girl, I plan on crafting a lot! Once we pick colors for her nursery, I'll buy yarn for a cute crochet owl blanket pattern I found. I also plan on making/painting decorations. I can't stay off of Pinterest so I'm sure that my list will grow!

My mom is helping me make a set of fabric alphabet blocks - they are freaking awesome! We found an embroidery pattern online that as a letter-animal pair for each letter of the alphabet. What's even better, the embroidery pattern was only 25$!
We're going to make ten blocks - with each block having 4 letters, 2 numbers and 2 shapes/blanks.I uploaded the two letters we have done so far. They look complicated, but my mom's sewing machine does all of the heavy work. If anybody wants the embroidery pattern, let me know i'll let you know where we found it.
Working on a quilt with my mom and made a name banner yesterday to hang above her crib! My husband is painting some white trees on her walls and I painted some mini birdhouses to put on their branches. So excited to put the ideas we have had into motion!
I've made a few things already: diaper covers, blanket, pacifier clips, and a dress. I plan to make a changing pad cover, crib sheets, crib skirt, teething rail, and valence for her nursery once I start getting those things in order for measurements!
So far I have made the crib skirt, bumper pad, crib sheet, car seat cover, and car seat canopy. I also plan to make the curtains, monogrammed valence, hamper, throw pillow, changing pad cover, and I will paint flower murals on her wall to match the fabric we chose for the bedding.
Oh! And I also made a shirt that my husband said was cute. He never gives any input on clothing so I knew we had to have a replica of this one. It's a white ruffle sleeve onesie done in bright pink, purple, and lime thread. It says "I found my prince. His name is daddy."
I have an embroidery machine, serger, and sewing machine so I plan to make several little appliquéd and personalized outfits once we decide for sure on a name. So much to do and so little time!!!
When mobile decides to allow me to post pics again, I will come back and add what I have done already.
I bought the yarn and a new crochet hook to make a baby blanket, but I have no idea where to begin - I've made some scarves in the past, but nothing that I wanted to be really nice!
I haven't sewn anything in over a year, so during spring break I am starting small with 3 receiving blankets. Eventually I want to make some crib sheets and may some sleep sacks.
I've made a couple minky blankets and cuddle blankets with the sewing machine. I plan on using the fabric scarps to make some soft toys with ribbons (like taggies). I'm working on crocheting them each one too (I made one for DS when he was born) too.
I love the material you used for the front of these! What type of fabric is it? Flannel? Fleece? Did you tack the middle of the together in any way or just stitch around the outside edge?
I've finished three crochet blankets thus far in colors that are pretty neutral or match the ocean/fishy theme we're doing. I have two knitted one on the needles, one pending that I'm SUPER excited about and I got gorgeous yarn on a SUPER clearance for a stunning knitted christening blanket. Most of these were stash busting and done while waiting for appointments and sitting around, so it's been great to feel this productive. I just cast on for a sweet little baby sweater as well.
I'll be sewing all of the bedding, but my darling SO won't buy ANYTHING until after the shower except the yarn for the one blanket so I'm going to be trying to sew all of that at, oh 35 weeks pregnant. Can't wait. Ugh.
I have a ton of planned crafty projects for this baby:
- A crochet stacking toy (the only thing I've completed so far). This pic is from the Lionbrand website (it's a free pattern "Pond Stacking Toy " for anyone who's interested) since I don't have one with me of my finished toy to post. It worked up really easily and was great for using up some partial skiens I had left over from other projects.
- A white crochet blanket identical to a blanket I made for DD but with a blue ribbon trim instead of pink. Plus at least one other crochet or knit blanket in undecided pattern/colours.
- A crochet bear rattle (DD has/had a bunny one) using some organic cotton yarn I've got.
- Some yarn stash busting for some crochet and knit soft and colourful balls/blocks.
- Some fabric and ribbon stash busting to make some "taggies" type blankets, blocks, etc.
- A minky crib blanket for winter.
- A few crochet hats (including a Santa hat from the yarn I still have left from the one I made for DD).
- A felt applique Christmas stocking (DH, DD and I each have one that I've made)
- Customize some plain white onesies (for sure one of the faux sweater vest ones and a tie/suspenders one, plus a few others)
- New car seat cover (maybe)
- New teething covers for the crib rails, possibly some new crib bedding (fitted sheets) and change pad covers.
- Some decor for the nursery (mobile, art, curtains, etc).
But first I have to finish a crochet blanket for a friend of mine who just had a baby girl and then sew some spring/summer dresses etc. for DD before I get back to projects for baby boy!
-Flannel blankets -Minky blankets -Crib sheets -Maaaaybe some cloth diapers if I can find motivation.. but if I'm being honest, probably not. -Appliques for a personalized infant gown
And then nursery decorations: -Painting a tree on one nursery wall, texturizing with foam and leaves on branches that'll come out from the wall -Rain mobile -Puffy felt clouds to hang from the ceiling -The obligatory letters on the wall
I'm going on a trip this weekend to sew things for baby boy... Starting with a quilt in flannels... Then maybe finishing another quilt in cottons that I started last year and got frustrated with... A minky blanket or two... And hopefully a taggie...
All this after I make a quilt for my friend who had her baby in December and I never made her quilt...
Busy weekend ahead and I'm excited to go thru my stash to see what I can use.
