Dizzy spells: what can be causing them?

For the past 2 days, I've been experiencing dizzy spells. I've had a constant headache, which I assumed was allergy related because the orange blossoms are in full bloom here. (I'm highly allergic)
On Thursday night, I threw up out of the blue at work. I was slightly dizzy, but just sat for awhile and went back to work. About an hour later, I had this sensation that felt like my entire uterus rolled over (very well could have been baby. Just never felt LO that strong before) and I got super dizzy. My cashiers went running for a chair and some water. They were pretty freaked out. I went home, and stayed home yesterday to rest.
I woke up this morning, super dizzy again. Even lying on my side in bed, I'm super dizzy.
I've placed a call already to my on-call OB. But while I wait for him to be available, I thought I'd ask you ladies if anyone has ever experienced this? Or what could be causing it?

  • Sounds like it could be high BP. If you don't have a home BP checker and are close to a cvs or somewhere I would recommend going and checking your BP.

  • I have issues with dizziness, mine are caused by very low blood pressure. There are lots of things that can cause you to be dizzy, but often it is because of dehydration. My suggestion would be to put in a call to the on call doctor, then sit down and put your feet up and drink water. I also tend to get dizzy and feel light headed when I get too warm.

    Hope you feel better soon!

  • I've been having dizziness issues to. Just like AKB, mine is caused by getting over heated. I asked my doctor and he said it has to do with my blood pressure dropping and not drinking enough water. I would definitely rest a ton and drink more water! There's a lot going on in our bodies these days.

  • Like others said, it could be high or low blood pressure, also your blood sugar could be off. Definitely talk to your doctor, that sounds a lot more severe than anything I've had. In the mean time drink tons of water and snack regularly.
  • When he called me, he recommended I make myself something to eat, and drink LOTS of fluids. He told me absolutely no working because he didn't want me to risk passing out and harming myself or baby. I've been really trying to push fluids today. I've even resorted to letting DD watch insane amounts of TV to keep her occupied so that I wasn't up running around. Ugh! I left the house just long enough to get some dinner. I'm off work for the next 2 days, so hopefully I can get rehydrated, and stop these dizzy spells. I'll check my blood pressure tomorrow at the store

  • I've noticed a lot of posts about the dizzy spells and majority of them have to do with drinking water. So it's good that you are focusing on drinking fluids but make sure it's water or 1/2water 1/2 juice. Sugary "fluids" don't count as water in take and can make you more dehydrated.
