Anyone else just starting

Their adoption journey? Our initial application has been approved and we start classes in a month. Our CW is very hopefully and we are all excited.

I'm looking for support from others at a similar point as I am.

I'm just starting too. Sounds like youre a little further along than I am. I'm going to one more orientation next weekend, and making my final decision as to whether I will be going the public or private agency route.

We started the foster to adopt process in January. All paperwork has been submitted and training starts in March.

It looks like we are at the same place. In our county, we have to take foster to adopt classes although we are adopting. Good luck!

We just got confirmation from the agency that they received all of our application paperwork and we should be hearing from a licensing specialist soon. We spent the weekend gathering all of the information we need for the first home study visit: financial, insurance, etc. It's really hard coming up with all of our addresses since we were 18! This coming week will be buying things for the home study: additional smoke/ carbon monoxide detectors, furniture, etc. I'm not good with waiting, so this should be fun.

After my orientation last weekend, I decided I'll be going with the state agency. They have all day Saturday classes that I'll be starting March 1. Was really pleased to hear that they try to accommodate the working parents-to-be as best they can. Also have the paper work to start filling out now. The application and initial pre-homestudy paperwork packet is 47 pages! People weren't kidding when they say there's a lot of paperwork that comes with this!

DH and I just started the process this month. We are looking to adopt through the state ("no legal risk" adoption), so we attended the required open house with DCF two weeks ago and filled out the initial application while we were there. They are doing the preliminary background checks and are supposed to get in touch with us to schedule a home visit. I hope they do that soon because we were told the classes in our area are supposed to start in March.

We aren't just starting the process, but where our profile has never been shown, we kinda are (if that makes sense). Regardless of where you are in the Adoption Process these ladies are great and very supportive!!

Just got the call for the first home study! YAY! It's scheduled for next Tuesday. The SW sounded very nice, but she mentioned she personally uses a more extensive list than the one that came in our packet...it's making me a little nervous. Guess I'm going to be worried about all of that now for a week!
