Car seats...all-in-one or not?

I know that we have discussed convertible car seats before, but I had one more question.  For STM, is an all-in-one car seat worth the money?  Or, should we just get a convertible and eventually the booster and so on and so forth?  I really thought that the all-in-one would be worth the money, but I'm getting some conflicting reviews.

  • From what I've read online most of the all in ones don't do everything well.

  • Uh oh. I got the Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite 65 3 in 1 Car Seat. Ill have to buy a separate booster. That's scary. It's not huge though and my DH had no issues installing it *shrugs*.
  • If you get a high limit convertible you may not even need a booster.

I'm surprised!  Rear facing it has to be in the fully reclined position so it takes up a lot of front to back space.  What car do you have it in?  It's absolutely not a bad seat if it fits the car and kid (and it does for you so it's not a concern or anything) it's just not the money saver people think it is, unfortunately.

I have a ford focus, lol! It doesn't fit that way. I was thinking width wise. You're right though, the passenger seat is all the way forward. I'm getting my new SUV soon, so it shouldn't be an issue. It does have to be reclined all the way back for N to be comfy.

I even did research on that one, lol! Apparently not enough! I loved it because it has so many safety features and all the reviews were great. Oh well. We are getting a new carseat for my DHs truck, so maybe I'll take the new one and he can have this one.

    Thanks for posting about this!
