  • I did the same as @casey78, delatched and put LO down for a minute. It only took 2-3 times per tooth and LO learned that biting == temporary stop in nursing. LO is now 22 months, has sooo many teeth, but hasn't bitten me in a very long time.

  • I agree with the above posters. She'd bite, I'd delatch and set her down saying something like "Ow, biting hurts mommy!", she got the point pretty quickly. Also, keep in mind when does your LO bite? I found that once we took care of the initial biting problem she's still occasionally bite down as she was drifting off to sleep. In that case prevention is key, just pay attention and just as she's falling asleep....take her off slowly so you don't get nipped. I also noticed that when she's teething she tends to bite more, once the teeth came in the biting would stop. LO is now 15 months old and I rarely get bit anymore.
  • CamoBride2010 Ive noticed when hes drifting off to sleep he does that.. thats how i know to take him off.. since hes eating solid foods now how often should i be nursing him?? im not really sure.. thank u ladys!! u all been tons of help i really appreciate it!! :)  >:D<
  • All I needed to say is "ouch"---and then a firm NO! he never did it again, ok maybe once but he knows better now.

  • I would try what above posters have suggested, but just fair warning that when I did that when LO was that age, my LO just decided she was done with nursing altogether.   After me saying "no" and delatching TWICE, she stopped nursing forever. Seriously.  It blew my mind it happened that quick, but she then only wanted to be bottle fed (despite weeks of me still offering to BF) and I became an EPer all of a sudden.

FWIW, my LO was never highly food motivated...

  • thank u ladys ive been doing it.. he crys.. but im firm and hes stops but i swear he forgets by the next nursing session.. i feel bad but he has to learn.. and hes been listening really good each time :) im still learning the difference between him just wanting to suck from wanting to actually nurse.. all this is new to me cause he is my frist.. so thank u ladys soooo much my mom stopped BF when we got teeth so these questions she dont know how to answer.. if i have more questions ill post them.. :)
