Number of nursing sessions at two months

My LO is two months this week. Due to a tongue tie saga and two frenectomies, we are only just getting back to the breast. I've been pumping full time prior to the past few days. The lactation consultant just told me to go for it and do all nursing to see where we end up. So far so good (all wet diapers and one bowel movement, and the sky hasn't fallen yet). With bottles, he was getting 8 per day (about 3 1/2 oz each). Now, he is nursing about 12 times per day (some longer and some shorter, sometimes one breast sometimes two). Is this normal at this age? We are getting a check up on Monday at which point we can assess weight. His weighed feedings with the lactation consultants have suggested he is transferring more, but all of this is anxiety provoking for me given my world has revolved around quantifying expressed milk up until this point. I also don't remember nursing my first born this much at this stage. Just curious what is normal for others.
