Embryo Donation after Succesful IVF

Hello,

I am sorry if this is not a fitting place to post this but I didn't know where to ask without being insensitive.

A friend of mine had a successful IVF procedure and had her daughter in 2011. This year she became pregnant naturally, which was a huge surprise to them because of all they went through for their 1st child. They had 5 embryos left and do not know what to do with them.

Has anyone here donated their embryos to stem cell research?
If so, do you know a good/respectful facility to do so?
All she has right now is google because her cryo facility does not get involved in the donation process.

    I would have her talk to her RE ab this...

    Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
    All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!

    Has she considered embryo donation/adoption? This would enable another couple to have a chance at a child and her embryos a chance at life. There are a few gals on PAIF right now that are pregnant with donor embryos. You might also ask on the third party reproduction board.

    Me-36, Unexplained Infertility, DH-35, all clear
    Clomid 50mg 12/2011 = BFN
    Clomid 100mg 1/2012 = BFN, with Cyst
    IVF #1 Lupron/Menopur/Gonal-f/HCG Trigger
    ER 4/19/12 = 11 retrieved, 6 fertilized,
    ET 4/22/12 = 2 transfered (day 3), remaining 3 weren't good enough to freeze
    Beta 5/3 = BFP, 87 Beta #2 5/7 560.9 Beta #3 5/9 1376.5 First u/s One Baby, 125bpm!
    Second u/s, 176bmp! Kicked over to the OB by the RE at 8w. Team Green!! 
    Baby girl J arrived two weeks early! Born into water, med-free. Hooray for Team Pink!

    TTC #2 - back to the RE, treatment started 12/2014.

    She should definitely discuss this with her RE. While my practice did not get involved in the donation process, they had referrals and information available for whichever path a couple chose. We did not have frozen embryos, but we were given information on Harvard's Stem Cell research program and embryo adoption before we started our cycle. 
    TTC in 2009, Dx: Unexplained IF
    Three TI cycles (BFP...miscarriage), five IUI attempts and 2.5 IVF cycles later...BFP!!
    12dp5dt: 765; 15dp5dt: 1979; 17dp5dt: 3379...TWINS!!!!!
    Our perfect baby boys were born at 36w1d!!

I am very passionate (and fortunately knowledgeable after adopting two batches myself) about embryo adoption so if she is at all interested in giving the gift of life to these little babies and the gift of a family to another couple, I can help answer questions. She can donate anonymously, or in an option "adoption." It's whatever she's comfortable with. Many people don't even know it's an option, or what options are available if they choose donation. It's a topic I love to talk about! Good luck to your friend on whatever she decides.

     3/27/13 - After beta and u/s hell, no heartbeat ever detected. D&C at 9w1d.

    6/5/13 - Adopted four new embryos that had been frozen for seven years!      
    9/12/13 - DEmbryo FET #2. Thawed and transferred two beautiful blasts
    9/17/13 - BFP @ 5dp6dt! EDD 05/31/14
     9/29/13 - m/c @ 5w1d. :(

    11/19/13 - DEmbryo FET #3. Thawed and transferred one blast from each batch. Wow!
     11/23/13 - BFP @ 4dp6dt! EDD 8/7/13
    Beta #1 @ 13dp6dt - 522  Beta #2 @ 16dp6dt - 1373 
    6w5d ultrasound showed one perfect baby with a beautiful heartbeat of 134bpm!

    Thank you, I will let her know there is someone she can ask questions too.
    She and her husband decided to just freeze another year and keep the discussion on hold because it's just such a personal subject and it's been hard for them to come to a decision.
