Noisemakers?

So we have a noisemaker in DD's room. It's one of those that just blows air and you can change how loud/quiet it is.
We have this one:image

Anyway, yesterday MIL posts this article online about how they "could" possibly hurt baby's ears

 https://www.nbcnews.com/health/kids-health/white-noise-machines-could-hurt-babies-hearing-study-suggests-n41416

Yesterday was her turn to watch my daughter and when I got home my noisemaker was turned off, and it kinda irked me.

Have you all heard anything negative about noise makers?

Re: Noisemakers?

  • I've seen this going around and I'm not sure what to think about it. The noise machine made a big different in Anna's sleep and we still have it on all night long. We never turned it on full blast but I did turn it down last night and she did okay.

  • LO wasn't in the room when it was off.  I usually just leave it running all day, but unless she's napping in her crib she's not in there.  MIL was only at my house for a few hours and LO slept in her swing that day.

We went to the ENT yesterday and she happened to have her 6 month hearing test which she passed with flying colors.

I have heard that and it was one of the reasons why I didn't buy one for DD, BUT she's 14 months now and we bought one a few weeks ago because she is the lightest sleeper. We literally have to tip toe around our house so I got one because that's just not realistic.

  • I agree with PP about using common sense. The article I read stated it shouldn't be louder than a shower running. We use MyPal Scout for 10 mins and a small fan all night. It's worked wonders for our little guy.
