Moooooving

Are any of you new mamas planning on moving during this pregnancy? We decided after we found out we were pregnant that we are pretty far away from most of our family and friends, not to mention my husbands work (1.5-2 hours) We are in the process of finding a new home now. It's not the most fun process ever but I was just wondering if any one else has gone through a big move mid pregnancy too. It's exciting but I'm also anxious to get the baby room going and to get everything settled.

Re: Moooooving

  • I've read about a couple of ladies who are either relocating or buying homes before the baby is born. I wish I could remember their SNs....

  • We moved when I was 32 weeks pregnant with DD.  It was a crazy process and she came at 36 weeks so that made it even crazier.  We all survived though.  Her room was definitely not ready when we got home from the hospital though and that did make me a little crazy.

  • We are! We are going to closing at the end of this month, and the house needs a total renovation. I've completely left it all up to my DH, since I can't be stressed about renovations right now. I'm praying we're in by July, but if not, hopefully by the time our LO will be ready for her crib.

  • We just moved at the end of January. Our new home still needs some renovations, which like PP I am leaving completely up to DH. I will say that packing was pain, however my mom was such an amazing help in that department. I am so glad we moved now, because it was a little hard with DS. I can imagine it would have been a bit harder with 2 kids.

    02.2013 - loss at 6 wks

    10.2015 - loss at 12 wks

  • I have no idea if we'll be moving or not. We are currently looking for new jobs, but I don't know how likely it is that I'll get hired anywhere when I am hugely pregnant. We definately want to move before my DS goes to school (Aug. 2015) and preferably sooner, but if the move is going to be this spring/summer we will have to have guaranteed jobs so that I still have insurance. If all goes well, we will be moving before LO arrives, but I really can't count on it.

  • We are looking for a new place. Our place now just isn't big enough for our soon to be family of 4. We hope to be out by May. It's completely stressing me out. Lol

  • We're house hunting too. Going out with the realtor tomorrow and hopefully finding SOMETHING to put an offer on!

  • We're trying to find a new place.  Our lease is up August 1 and I'm due the 20th, but we're planning on moving June 1 and just paying the overlap.  It has me incredibly stressed, but it will put us in a much better place financially- our complex raised our rent nearly $400 a month last year and are planning on the same if we were to stay this year.  I asked about adding another month (i.e, staying till September) and moving AFTER the baby comes, and they wanted what amounts to double our rent for that month.  HELLZ NO.  We pay more for a two bedroom apartment than every single person I know with a mortgage.

  • We closed on our house at the end of January and are currently renovating it.  We are hoping to move in by the end of April.  It's been tough because between not feeling 100% and not being able to breathe in all the fumes, I haven't been able to help much.  It's been mostly my dad and husband doing the work, with help here and there from my mom and I.  Really trying to not stress about it, but it's hard.  Although I have to admit, while it's inconvenient to have all our stuff in storage, I'm actually enjoying staying with my parents right now.  Between my parents and husband, I'm getting pretty spoiled and haven't had to do much cooking or cleaning, and very few errands.  In that sense, it's actually kind of good timing!

  • We moved around 9 weeks, back in November. I was worried about lifting too much so we had a lot of help which was worth it I think. It all worked out well though just ask for help

  • We are closing on our new home first week of April. Very excited as this will be first house for both of us and good riddance to apt life. Thsy being said, we are looking at moving in 3-4 wks and the idea of packing and painting and renovating makes me anxious. But it will get done and can't edit to start on the nursery for our baby boy <3
  • We put an offer on a house today actually. We've been house hunting for months an found something reasonable. The main thing we were looking for when house hunting was a room for every child including LO. So we found a 4 bd home reasonably priced.

We just put an offer on a house today too!! Yikes! So exciting but nervewrecking also!! Hope you get it!! I know I will happy once we are there. :)

  • We are hoping to move to a house up the road soon but the house is a short sale. It seems like we should be in by May 1st but because we put the offer in 2months ago, I decided to start packing boxes here and there to lessen the huge packing load! I pack one area of our 3bedroom apartment every week. The easiest was my closet! I packed all my non-maternity clothes away and don't plan on unpacking them until after the baby gets here. My summer clothes (which I am more likely to need post-pregnancy) are already in a separate tote! I would just pack when you have energy and don't stress about having the everything ready. You notice, but the baby doesn't.

I am moving! In mid January my company offered me a promotion but the location is 8 hours away from our current home. Even though DH makes more than me he thought it was a great opportunity for me and since he's the adventurer of the 2 of us he also thought it sounded like fun. So I accepted the job- I had to start on feb 1 so I have been living in a hotel 8 hours away from DH since then- he's made the trip a bunch so that's helped but fortunately there is light At the end of the tunnel because we sold our previous house and found a house in the new location and we close on the new house mar 27 so by the end of this month I'll have my husband back and I'll be living in a house again! One good thing is since my company moved us they pay for movers to come and pack all of our stuff, move it and then unpack it in the new location. This has definitely been an adventure but I will never do it again while pregnant!

We moved 2 weeks ago into a larger place a few miles from our old one. It would have been nice to move back to California to be near my family but that's a move for another day. Good luck on all your moves.

  • We're closing at the end of this month on our first house, but won't be moving in until May. We're fixing the plumbing and getting new windows first. We moved when I was 6 months pg with DD and I'll be 7 months this time. Definitely not easy but we will be moving in loads so it will help us out a little.

  • Yup. I think we have lost our minds. I'll be 20 weeks tomorrow and we are having an open house on our home in Boston in hopes of relocating to Texas to be near family before LO arrives. No tips- I could use some myself for sure!
  • I'm moving too, in May. My husband took a job in SoCal in late October, just before we found out about the pregnancy (surprise baby!). I teach at a university in the eastern part of the US and so will move as soon as my contract is over, at the end of this semester. I'm getting movers and my mom is coming out to help pack. I'm hoping that the move will force me to get rid of / and organize things in advance of the baby's arrival, to make more room for him and all of his accouterments.
  • We bought a house when I was pregnant with DS. Closing date kept getting pushed back, and we finally closed on a Friday when I was 37weeks. Moved in that weekend, then DS was born on Tuesday! Didn't give us much time to get settled in, but at least we didn't have to try to make a big move from an apt to a house with a newborn.

    Mommy to R (8.23.11) and K (6.21.14).

  • I'm moving soon as LO is born. My hubby already has a place so we can slowly move boxes and pack. We have already started. Just have to finish the school year and meet this little guy. Hopefully he won't have to spend more than a couple nights at my apartment.

  • We are house hunting today! DH job is relocating us and we will be closer to family! Yay! We had to drive 6 hrs to go look at new houses so I'm hoping we find a place, put an offer in, and it's accepted! (Thinking positively!) Sending good house hunting/buying/moving/settling in vibes to all you ladies!
  • Our lease is up July 1. I am due the 21. We are moving. Yay for me! NOT. Hoping to get into the new place a few weeks earlier so I can take my time setting up/cleaning/etc.

I moved when I was 6.5 month PG with DD and it was fine, but 9 months is a different story!
