TTC after 35

Board Stickie Msg - DRAFT 1

Hi Everyone!

I've written up a draft stickie for our board and want to get everyone's opinion on it.  I tried to incorporate all the great advice that everyone gave yesterday and hope I have done you all proud. I actually found this to be much harder than it seemed.  I don't want to offend anyone and hope this is an all encompassing message that everyone will be happy with for our board.

Once you've had a chance to review, please share your thoughts, comments, etc and I'll make any necessary revisions.

================================================================

Welcome to TTC after 35, the open and supportive forum for all trying to conceive (TTC) after the age of 35.   You will find this board is a very diverse group of individuals at varying stages of trying to conceive.  We all know that TTC at this age can be difficult no matter what the situation is. Simply put, we are all here to give and receive support during our journey.

As you make your way onto this board, you will find those who have children and are trying to expand their family as well as those who are trying to conceive their first. Some are married, some are engaged, and some are single. Our medical diagnoses vary as well.  Some have a specific IF diagnosis, some do not. Some are just beginning to seek medical advice and testing, while others have sought treatment for years.  You'll find some are trying naturally, some with IUI, some with IVF and some with donors. We are just one big conception melting pot!

No matter what journey you are on, we are always supportive, respectful, and compassionate while connecting with one another.  We are never intentionally rude, snarky, or immature with our fellow bumpies.

Here are a few etiquette pointers we'd like to share...

Drive By BFP's
- Let's face it nobody likes a drive by.  If you've never posted on our board, we politely ask that you do not come here to simply post your success story. Those announcements are happily reserved for our board members who we've supported and cheered on since they made their introduction on this board.

New and Never Posted Here?
If you are new to our board please introduce yourself so we can get to know you and support you in your journey.  In your initial posting, we'd appreciate it if you could give a warning in your subject line if you will be mentioning another child(ren) or a loss(es). These are sensitive topics for some of us who are struggling, and a little warning goes a long way.

For Members With Children
- You should never feel like you have to hide them for fear of upsetting someone else on the board. Just be sensitive to everyone, including those struggling to conceive their first.

Postings with BFPs and/or Loss
– These types of posts should generally come with a warning. If you forget, it is not the end of the world and we’ll roll with it. However, you may receive a gentle reminder to do so from someone that posts in your discussion thread.

Weekly Check-Ins

We currently have two weekly check-ins on this board.  On Wednesday there is a general board check-in and on Thursday there is a special check-in for those over 40.  We encourage everyone to participate in the check-ins as it is a great way for us all to stay connected in one post. Note: If you are new, please do an intro post before posting in a weekly check-in.

  • Thanks @PrivateOne for doing that. Can I maybe suggest putting in the drive by BFP section for them to go right to the pregnant after 35 board so they have a safe place to post.

And my check-in doesn't have to be on it. But thanks @soontobeshrader for thinking of me. It's not a check-in that includes the whole board so I don't think it should be in the sticky note. But you all know everyone is welcome to post in my check-in.

  • I like it--informative and very welcoming!  If I were new, I would definitely appreciate that you'd actually written out a glossary instead of just posting a link.

  • Just another thought--do we want to change "some are married, some are engaged, and some are single" to something like "some are married or partnered, and some are single," to be inclusive of people in long-term relationships who don't plan to get married, LGBTQ ladies in states where marriage isn't an option, and others?  I think "partnered" would include "engaged" :)

    Great job, well done =D>
  • Very good and I am so happy to see this incredibly supportive and welcoming sticky. I would like to intro myself properly soon. I've only posted comments a couple times. But I've been lurking and am kinda proud that I've picked up on all of the sticky stuff so I feel like a seasoned member already! :) thanks it's communities like this one that make my journey not quite as lonesome.
    TTC#1 since Aug 2013, I'm 37, DH 41.
Maya Arvigo Abdominal massage (daily self care), plus TTC meditations.
I'm very sensitive to diet (gluten, avoid processed foods) and environment. Have a history of inflammation and tendinitis before going off gluten in 2009.
July 2014 - RE Visit #1: Eggs look good, Endometrioma on R ovary, HSG showed blocked R tube close to ovary. DH SA normal
DX: Endometriosis probably the IF cause and gunking up tubes.  Since egg reserve is high, RE says I can wait a couple months and then get laproscopic surgery to remove endo & clear tube.  If that doesn't help then move to IVF.
Dec 2014 - Saw new RE - does not recommend surgery on tube as it isn't likely to help.  Doubts I have endometriosis.  My endometrioma shrunk to neglible size (yay!)
    Seriously considering IVF in March/April
    12/17/14 - Natural BFP!
