Pregnant after 35

Baby movement

Hi everyone - I will be 21 weeks tomorrow and still not sure when I feel this little guy. I feel twitches and a really soft poke here and there but nothing too distinct so I can't be sure- also sometimes i will feel twitches more than others like I feel I can go a day and not feel anything then of course I panic- anyone not feel much till later on??

Thanks xoxo

Re: Baby movement

  • Yes. I'm a TTM and I didn't feel this one at all until at least 25 or 26 weeks.
Then regular, defined movement after 28 or 30 weeks.

I felt my other two as early as 18 or 19 weeks.

    Every pregnancy is different.
It depends a great deal on where your placenta is attached.

  • I wouldn't worry about consistent movement until after 28 weeks. Baby still has a lot of room at this point!

  • Thank you- my doctor hasn't mentioned my placenta being in a odd spot but I guess I will ask- this is my first so I panic about everything and not feeling him at all is making me nervous!

I'm around 21 weeks too. It can be very faint in the beginning, especially on your first as it's not something you can recognize. My LO started off about a week ago with twitches, soft pokes and wiggles but now he's onto full on prods, some thumps but very definitely there and kind of flip-flop feelings which I assume happen when he turns over. I find he is most active after 10pm at night, I'll be propped up in bed and then he goes into overdrive. I only ever feel him when I'm sitting down.

Interestingly, last night I was yelling at my 16 year old son (his laziness is driving me insane) and LO was flipping out in there! That quickly calmed me down.

I was experiencing the same at around 21 weeks.  I bet you'll be feeling baby more in the coming weeks.

  • Oh just you wait! Movement was not very distinct for me yet at that stage, either. I'd say it took until 25 weeks or so to get consistent, noticeable movement. Then the ninja rolls and kicks started and have not stopped -- actually makes me nauseous sometimes!

  • I will be 25 weeks Thurs. just in the past week I have felt more flutters and twinges. They were so light before but now starting to feel it more.

Usually it is at night when I am laying still. Past few days have felt it more and during the day too.

They are still light feeling but I can tell they are becoming more frequent.

  • Thanks again guys- I'm sure I'm feeling him more than I think - I'm feeling some thumps and even some consistent twitches in the same spot the other day making me wonder if he had hiccups! This is all so new and exciting !
  • Thanks a million for asking!!

I'm about 15 weeks along, and have this damn app on my Kindle that says some second time moms (I am) feel movement as early as 13 weeks.

I'm like "Nope.  Not me.  PRETTY sure it's gas.  No, really...that's gas."  There are times when I'll be laying flat on my back and I THINK my tummy flutters ever so slightly, and I'm like "Yes?  No?  Was that movement?  Or, wishful thinking?"
