A week ago i developed an itch that started on my belly but spread to pretty much all over excluding hands and feet. I cant seem to find an explanation anywhere for an all over itch w no rash that wasnt ICP. Do your palms and soles of your feet always itch w ICP? I had also used a self tanning lotion the day before and fake eyelashes the day the itch began. Wondering if it is merely an allergic reaction but cant find any info on that either! I have GD as well but pretty sure that doesnt have anything to do w it?

Re: all over itch!

  • Thank you!  I am supposed to go in next week for blood work.  Was looking for some piece of mind until then!  Hopefully it is just a symptom of GD!

  • Could it be PUPP?

  • Do not ignore this itch!!!
I to had an itch that came over my body at 32 weeks. My doc shrugged it off as normal itch and also just said it was PuPP. I went back in crying in pain from the itching being so severe that I could not sleep. They tested my liver and I was diagnosed with ICP. Is very dangerous for your baby.
I am being induced on Tueaday ( 36w4d) as they don't typically let you go over 37 weeks with ICP as risk to baby can be quite severe.
If your doc hasn't tested your Bile acid levels, get that tested! Get on Urso meds soon. My baby has to be monitored so closely now, as it causes distress in babies, basically they are poisened with bile acid in your blood.

Just make sure if your itch doesn't go away to push for liver function tests. It's not something doctors know a lot about, as it's quite uncommon!
  • @lisabau06 - Great advice. I had a liver problem too with itching and my doctors had no idea what was going on!
