I enrolled my daughter in a preschool program that meets M/W/F from 9:30a-noon. We've since moved farther north than we had expected and we now live 45+ minutes away from the school. I researched and found a much closer school--that DH and I like equally as much as the first--but we could only afford to send her to this school twice a week (W/F--but she'd be there from 7:00a-12:30p).
I'm a bit worried that only being at school two days a week won't prepare her adequately for kindergarten, which is five full days a week. That said, she'd ultimately be getting more hours each week at the two-day program than the three-day program, so that accounts for something.
We're leaning toward the second program because it's closer and we like it just as much, but I'd be willing to do the drive to the first program if it meant she'd transition better to kindergarten. I'm overthinking this, aren't I? What are your thoughts/experiences with transitioning from preschool/pre-K programs to kindergarten? WWYD if you had these two options? Thanks!
Re: Transitioning from Pre-K to K
Somehow I left out an important note--my mom and MIL will have my kids at their houses two of the three days, and the school is only 10ish minutes away from them, so I'd only be doing the 45min one day a week. But still. Yes--it's an insane commute for PK. (If we send her to the school up the street from us, mom and MIL will come to our house--they are awesome.)
K is in 2015, so she'll begin PK fall2014.
Thanks for the input, ladies!!
