  Implanon was great the first year I had it, after that I started having some complications.  I had very irregular periods and they came on without warning to the point that it was almost one long continuous period.  I also lost my sex drive almost entirely.  At the 2 year mark I opted to have mine removed.  Good luck and I hope this helps

  Thanks, that does help.  I had sex drive issues for the first few months on the pill so I expected that but I wasn't sure about the "spotting" everyone warns you about.

  I had the implanon for 3yrs and had little to no periods well on it. I also gain quite a bit of weight well on it. Besides that it wasn't bad, it was nice not to have the pill everyday. I got on the pill afterwards and my period was really regular ( normal pill expected).

  I had a friend who had the Implanon and she got pregnant. They scanned her arm and couldn't find it. I'm not discouraging you from using it, but I might ask for a scan to locate it AFTER its been injected.

  I will have to ask about that now.  I assumed since it was under the skin that I could feel it.  I would be so pissed if I got pregnant again on BC.  I don't think my husband would believe it this time.  The first time I missed every other day for a week and thought I made them up, FAIL!  Then I forgot about the antibotics effect on the pill and the pharmacy didn't catch it, FAIL!  I would like to plan at least one baby.

  I could feel and even move it a little ( not out of place just up and down slightly) so defiantly knew it was there! Also you will have a scar from where they put it in and take it out.

  I had the Implanon also.  I was great for the first 2 full years.  I had mine removed at 2.5 years due to some spotting.  You should always be able to feel it as it is inserted just below the skin.  If it is inserted and you can't feel it they have inserted it way too deep.  (I work in the medical field)

  Thanks for the input everyone.  I am scheduled to get one this friday provided my period starts when it is supposed to.  My Dr says that I should use back up BC for 24-48 hours after getting it.  Is that long enough, does it really kick in that fast, and is there any nausea (similar to the pill) associated with it?
