So I just read your post and figured why not try it, I've heard of this just never tried it. So on my NT scan the gender guess was boy, and with this baking soda, boy too. It totally made fizzing noises, had bubbles on the side, and only foamed a little bit at the top. The Chinese gender chart says girl. So we will see, was fun either way and my DH thought it was totally ridiculous. Lol \m/

I don't trust the charts. I don't remember which one it was but there's no way every person my age having a baby this year is having the same gender. I'm sure a lot of these tests are farces but they are fun. If the red cabbage one wasn't so detailed I'd give that a shot too but I'm lazy.
I did this for fun with the twins. It did nothing (girl) and I had 2 girls. I haven't tried it yet this pregnancy. My gf is having a boy so I want to get her to try it just to see.
I tried the baking soda one today for shits and giggles, and it said girl. We'll see. Last time every single OWT re: gender (including the Chinese chart) said boy, and I had a girl.

Tried for fun. At first, nothing happened, then about 10-15 seconds later it was foamy on top but no "fizzing". Guess we will find out in about 27 weeks
I have a hard time believing the sex of my baby will alter the pH of my urine, but I might test this prior to the birth for shits n giggles. I think your pH is more likely to change depending on what you're consuming (and therefore excreting).
Nerd alert! Pretty sure your baking soda won't go bad, though; it's baking powder that loses it's effectiveness owing to the other ingredients in it that react once wet and heated to raise dough/ batter. Baking soda will always fizz to some degree when mixed with an acid, so it depends on the concentration in your urine. You can see what I mean if you use vinegar, cola, water, oj, milk.... the more acidic, the more fizz; less or none will yield little to no reaction. I imagine you will get different results if you alter your water consumption to concentrate or dilute your urine, and possibly by the actual foods you eat.
