Ugh Quick Parenting Question

For those of you who still don't use toothpaste with flouride, do you brush LO's teeth in the morning?

We do at night but I don't see the point in the morning.

And please feel free to share all your great stories of your three year olds at the dentist. I am nervous to take her tomorrow.

  • We brushin the AM and PM.  I think both are crucial times to brush because it enforces the habit and all of the bacteria that grow inthe mouth overnight.

We haven't had our first dentist appointment yet, so I wish you luck!

  • We brush in the morning and at night.  DD had her first dentist appointment a couple weeks ago.  She is 3 1/2 & she did GREAT!  She climbed right up in the chair and the dentist did a great job of explaining all the instruments and letting her touch them so she wasnt scared at all.  She let them clean her teeth with no problems.  Good luck!

  • What kind of toothpaste do you guys use?  It seems like allllll the kids toothpastes out there have mint flavor and the girls hate mint flavor.

  • Yeah, they like the regular infant-y toothpaste that they can swallow, but we're trying to transition them to the spit-out toothpaste and it's going over like a lead balloon.

  • DS is only 1 year, so no morning brush.

  • We have have them brush their teeth morning and night. Like PP's said the morning is mainly to just get in a habit of doing it. Sometimes it doesn't happen, but I try to do it when I do mine. We have been using Tom's tooth paste without fluoride, the strawberry flavor.

GL tomorrow though! I am sure she will do great. DD1 has her first dentist appointment in a few weeks. :)

  • We brush her teeth morning and before bed. She is 2.5 and we use the strawberry/banana flavored Earth's Best. She actually loves to brush her teeth.

We took her to the dentist for the first time in November. I was nervous she would have a fit but she did great.
  • We just started adding in the AM brush, but I often forget to do it. We just want to get her in the habit.

  • We are just starting to brush in the morning. He already brushes after lunch and before bed. We also have started using a flosser as the dentist recommended it. We still use the infant toothpaste with no floiride because he eats the toothpaste still.

@cinemagoddess Aquafresh makes a bubblegum flavored kids toothpaste with flouride.
  • I thought the Tom's kids had Flouride. Crap.

  • FFFC?  DS1 is almost four and hasn't been to the dentist yet but making the appointment is on my to do list for today.  He gets AM and PM brushings with fluoride toothpaste (and we recently started PM flossing) and he gets a brushing with just water at pre-school after lunch.  He used to be a beast about brushing so I was so nervous about the dentist but he's gotten so much better in the last couple months and now ASKS to do floss (he calls it flost lol) and we've been talking about how the dentist polishes your teeth and makes them shiny and he can tell the dentist how great he is about taking care of his teeth so he seems ok with it.
