Jacksonville daycare

Hi everyone! I just had my baby boy on Christmas day and will be needing a daycare when I go back to work in February or March. I live on the southside near baymeadows/deerwood area. Does anyone know of a good in-home daycare near this area? Or how did you find a good daycare? Im finding it difficult to even locate in-home daycares in general. Thanks!

Re: Jacksonville daycare

  • I went through the same thing, good daycares are sparce in Jacksonville. Had a bad experience with the first & the second was a coworker referral, this one has been great since baby was 4 months, he is 13 months now. Although we are not regular church attendies it is a church daycare on the westside. They seem to be better for infants and have less turnover than the others. I definetely veared away from private. No one monitors them and a baby drowned in a pool last year at a private home daycare, so no thanks. Also, check FL Department of Children and Families, DCF, website for the daycares inspections. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  • We are looking to transition our DS into daycare shortly.  My DH and I both like The Learning Experience on Southside and Deerwood Academy.  GL!

DCF actually monitors the at home day care centers too. Their inspections can also be found on their website.  The in home day care you are referring to actually wasn't licensed. However from what I remember she had all the safety precautions in place - just happened to forget to lock a gate or door that day.
