uuugh - my mother's helper cancelled AGAIN at the last minute so I'm on my own with the girls for the next 10 hours. The last time this happened was a total nightmare - Its so hard to get them to nap when I am alone and they ended up overtired and all three of us ended up CIO on the couch. I was a complete wreck by the time DH came home. Looks like we will be spending some time driving around aimlessly in the car today. I wish I had some IRL mommy friends I could go visit with the girls instead.

Aw...I'm sorry

Even with one I end up doing aimless driving these days as well so I can't even imagine with two. You are awesome though and I hope the day isn't as bad as you think it will be

I wish I lived closer I would totally help you out with the girls! I'm sorry your day isn't looking so good, I'm getting stressed out just thinking about it. I can only imagine how you feel! I seriously don't know how you do it. All your hard work will pay off one day mama!! Fingers crossed that they just pass out from exhaustion.

I am so sorry! I know you have probably thought of this before, but have you checked out meet up and mothers of multiples groups in your area to see if they are having any events you could go to and meet some other new moms for "play dates," (which, at this age, are more about maintaining parent sanity?

And maybe interviewing some local college kids on care.com that you could have as backup for short-notice situations?

I'm so sorry your mother's helper cancelled. if I wasn't working today I would totally drive over to help. I live outside Boston and Worcester is only about an hour from me. We can always use new friends!

Ditto this. When mine is crabby, I go run errands. Some time in the car/stroller always brings a nap. Or if you're going on a car ride, make it somewhere good instead of loops around the neighborhood. For me that would be the outlet mall or ikea. I know someone mentioned it too, but maybe check meetup for a local mom's group.I've been in mine for almost four years now. I'm made some good friends with same age kids and learned where all the good parks are/who has cool activities.

Good luck. I'm also team "drive around aimlessly". A friend of mine started buying gas cards for new parents as baby gifts because of that.

this made me laugh in sympathy. I have cio on the couch before too, just never had a name for it. I would totally come over and hang out with you but it would be kind of a long plane ride for me.
