Paci in MOTN replacing a feed?

DD is 8 weeks old and about 4 nights ago she started sleeping 8-9 hour stretches (even did 10 once!) whereas she was doing about 6 hour stretches before. She still periodically stirs in the middle of the night and fusses a tiny bit but when I put her paci in she calms back down and goes back to sleep. Around 5 am the paci no longer calms her and it's clear she wants to eat. Is it okay for me to give her the paci through the night instead of feeding her since it calms her? She's gaining fine and has the correct amount of wet and dirty diapers.

  • My DS did this at about this age. I did exactly what you're doing. Keep in mind, as pp posted, sleep habits will change. My now 5 month old has begun waking and obviously wanting a middle of the night feeding recently.

I did the same thing for my daughter at that age. Once we stopped MOTN feedings she didn't seem to miss them and we haven't done them since.
