Trouble TTC

Rant / Vent - bad day

I just need to vent for a moment because I am really frustrated at how inconsiderate others can be sometimes. I will be married two years soon and all I ever hear from everyone is "when are you going to get pregnant?" "What are you waiting for?" "Don't you want to have a baby?" Is it just me or do others not consider that you may have been trying to do just that the past two years and it hurts every time someone brings up the fact that you are not indeed pregnant. Sorry ladies for the rant just having a bad day :(

Re: Rant / Vent - bad day

  • Yeah sometimes it's surprising how much people don't realize what they're doing. I'm sorry you're having a bad day. I have been there! And still am sometimes lol. It's crazy but I used to tell people I just wasn't even sure if that's what I wanted even though in actuality I wanted it more than anything!! Now I'm honest though.

    Me: 32  DH: 33  Married: March 2004

    July 2006: started TTC
2008: HSG (normal), couple rounds of clomid through gyno
2008 - 2010: dragging my feet out of fear and procrastination
October 2010: first consultation with RE, dx PCOS and fibroids (DH slightly low count/motility)
Oct. 2010 - Dec. 2012:  In DENIAL! avoided the issue because I was scared of surgery
January 2013: returned to RE, fibroids grew significantly
February 2013: second HSG, fibroids pushed on tubes which blocked them somewhat
March 2013: MRI to determine what type of surgery may be necessary

July 29, 2013: fibroids (5) removed via robotic laparascopy
August 2013 - Nov 2013 : benched due to recent surgery

    IUI #1, Dec. 24, 2013, BFN
    IUI #2, Jan. 25, 2014, BFN
    IUI #3, Feb. 25, 2014  BFN
IUI #4 canceled due to lack of response to letrozole
    IUI #4.1 April 28, 2014, BFN

May 16, 2014: wtf consult, start prepping for IVF in June and add injects for one last IUI in the meantime
IUI #5 started letrozole and bravelle but canceled after HSG led to new diagnosis

May 21, 2014: third HSG, tubes blocked, one at the beginning, one hydrosalpinx??
June 11, 2014: consult, approved to move on to IVF because the hydro is not completely blocked therefore allowing fluid to move through slowly rather than backwards
    IVF #1 August 8, 2014 - 3dt of 2 embryos, BFN
September 17, 2014 - 4th HSG, the right tube is very patent (open!!) dye went straight through this time. Weird!
    October 2, 2014 - started metformin treatment
    November 14, 2014 - blood work, brought A1C down from 5.8 to 5.5

November 26, 2014 - RE finally back from vaca and reviewed my chart, no more IVFs for rest of calendar year
December 1, 2014 - Right after Thanksgiving, I called a new clinic and got in right away! Plan for IVF
    December 17, 2014 - ER! 29 retrieved (!!), 16 mature, all 16 fertilized (ICSI)

    IVF #2 December 20, 2014 - 3dt of 3 embryos, BFN

We are done with treatment unsuccessfully. :(

  • I'm so sorry you are feeling pressure around you.  It can be hard not to want to punch people in the ute when they ask questions like that ;)  I've been having a bit of a down day, too... hopefully we both pull out of it soon!
  • Hugs. Depending on how irritating the question is I respond that my womb is not a topic open for discussion or say that we will have kids 9 months after I get pregnant. We've been married 8 years, it's fairly obvious that we are having issues.
Ready to take the road less traveled.
  • These questions definitely sting. One positive thing about IF is that it has helped me to realize that I have no idea what someone else is going through so to keep my mouth shut.
Me(33)- atypical PCOS, ovulation difficulties, irregular cycles DH (40)- normal Summer 2010- married and stopped BC 2012-2013 GYN did some tests, SA-good, my blood work- slightly high androgens, some cysts, mentions PCOS and referral to RE- but im not ready so just start charting and OPKs. Spend way too long trying on own just charting occasionally, tracking symptoms, BD a lot more, and hoping November 2013- finally go to RE. Repeat tests plus more. SA - great. Still slightly high androgens, some cysts, dx with PCOS but its atypical presentation. January 2014- cycle 1 of letrozole, trigger shot,TI - BFN February 2014 - letrozole + injections, IUI -BFN March- benched scheduled LAP 4/15 RE thinks Endo
  • Ugh sorry people are making you feel so crappy.

  • I have thought so hard about coming "out" for this very reason.  DH had 2 cousins married the same year as us.  They both now have babies, and both couples are at least 5 years younger than us.  DH made me go see the most recently born baby back around Christmas.  While we were there DHs aunt (the mother of the cousins and gm of the babies) said when are you two going to have a baby.  I said oh I don't know maybe sometime next year.  Aunt then says, "well you better get at it hes what about to be 34 hes probably shooting blanks."  Yes Dear Aunt because no man over the age of 35 can procreate right?  It is so frustrating.  Oh well what are you gonna do.  If anything we can all say we know IF has made us some strong bad ass women!
    Ba hahahaha!

I completely agree with this statement. Although I would never wish IF on ANYONE, I can say that because of it I have become a more courageous, strong, understanding, bad ass woman! Too bad not everyone understands and we have to hear stupid comments all the time.
So sorry you had to deal with inconsiderate people OP.

  • I totally feel your pain!  It happens to me at least once a week.  One day I will just scream "WE ARE TRYING!!!!" Haha!
Last week I came home and burst into tears (thanks, artificial hormones!) because after my furnace went out one day, a co-worker said I'd be popping out a baby nine months from that day after such a cold night.  My first thought was "nope, according to my BBT, OPK and CM I'm not ovulating," and then I thought how envious I was of people who don't have to keep track of that kind of stuff...
I usually am not this sensitive, but I think the pressure just cracks you every once in awhile.  I'm so thankful to have you understanding ladies to talk to!

  • Our 2 yr anniversary was in November, and we are in a small town going to a church locally. EVERYONE asks us when we are going to have kids and then proceeds to tell us it's good we're waiting because we should have a house or whatever first.

We are saving for a house and we've been trying for over a year. BUT thanks.

  • Hi, I'm new here and I just wanted to say I feel for you. I usually tell people bluntly I have trouble with it, then I add that I don't want to talk about it and I've never had a problem with that response. People usually just say they're sorry and change the subject.
  • Thank you so much for the responses (sorry I just got a chance to log on now and check). Our first appt went well, we both need to go for bloodwork and my DH has to repeat his SA. If his count comes back as low on this test then we have to discuss options. We are thinking most likely IUI which is what my ob/gyn and the urologist had suggested as well as the RE depending on our results.
