Spent the afternoon in L&D

I posted earlier about a possible UTI. I woke up with mild pain really low. I called my doc and they wanted to to come in for a urine sample and call back if I feel cramping. Well fast forward 2 hours, the pain got worse and worse and was traveling up by abdomen. I called the doc hoping to just be seen in the office, but they told me I have to go to L&D. So off I went. At this point my pain was really bad. Hooked me up to the monitor and got a urine sample. The nurse said I was showing activity on the monitor and it looked like an irritable uterus. The nurse practitioner came in and said I was having small contractions every 20-30 seconds. I guess it was so painful because there wasn't time for the first contraction to finish before there was another one. Gave me a shot of brethine and some Motrin. My urine came back clean so it wasn't that. Then had the pelvic exam with the fetal protein test to check for risk of preterm labor (came back negative). My cervix was totally closed which is great. Sent me home with a prescription for procardia as needed. She said it doesn't increase my risk of having him early but that it can be bothersome but never let it go longer than a day. I'm just shocked at how much pain I was in. I'm home now still hurting but not as bad. I just hope this doesn't happen again
