Anyone else's animals completely freaked out by baby?

I have had my 3 dogs for 10 years. No children were ever around them so I expect them to be uncomfortable and to adjust eventually. They are great with the baby- they just watch him and stay away pretty much. I have to add that they are all little dogs under 15 lbs. Just in the last week, they have started peeing in the house, marking things and chewing up things like puppies. Mason is 6 weeks old, why start this now? I do not want to get rid of my dogs but I don't want them to have to live in their crates all the time either. Anyone else had this problem? does it get better?

  • My cats were not thrilled after my first. It was a big adjustment for them. In time it did get better. Especially once LO starts sleeping better and you can give them some undivided attention after bedtime etc. For now I would just try to set aside even a few minutes during naps to pet, brush, cuddle, play, whatever it is that they really enjoy. Sadly it was a little bit of a demotion for our pets, but they're still spoiled rotten in the scheme of things.

  • I just thought it was strange that it just started instead of right when baby came home. I expected them to be upset right away but maybe they have just had enough! :)
  • My one dog is completely fine and just wants to play mommy but my other dog is acting crazy. She nips at DS's feet and runs around panting really heavy, its honestly scary. We're taking her to a behavioural vet tomorrow.
