Working mom pumping on weekend?

I'm trying to adjust my pumping schedule at work but it's not consistant with his feeding schedule.  So I don't know what to do on the weekends.  If he eats at 5 a.m., 8, 11, 2, 5 and 8 p.m. and I bf at 5 a.m., pump at 6 a.m., 9 a.m. and 2 pm. and bf at 5 pm and 8 pm, how do I feed him during the day on the weekends?  If I remove the 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. pump, I can feed at 8 am fine.  But what's the best route to take for the 11:00 and 2:00 feeds?  I'm starting to supplement now too b/c my milk is low.  I currently pump an additional time at work but probably going to cut it.  I'm having to nurse and give a bottle for the 5 and 8 pm feedings anyway.  help.  And he's on rice cereal at 6 p.m.

Without a supply concern, I'd just say ditch the pump on the weekends and do your thing.  Your body will adjust.

Exactly. I never pump on the weekend unless I'm going to be away from LO and have not had an issue.

  • I never pumped on the weekend either... just fed on demand.

  • I know my supply has dropped since going back to work and at the 5 pm feeding there isn't much there. He comes off both breasts early. So I added a bottle of formula after nursing to supplement and I do the same at 8 pm. So I always offer bm first but he was up at night so much from 2-5 am the doc said I may need to supplement. During the day he does eat on demand but it's pretty consistent. He's much happier during the week bc he's getting more in bottles. The last few weekends he's been so fussy bc my supply has been low and I've only been nursing.
