  Inspired by the bump-wide UO thread: I think there is such a thing as trampy looking clothes for kids. Does that make the kids themselves look trampy? Hell no, they are kids! But I would totally judge the company who makes it and the people who buy them. Basically, if it would look trampy on an adult, a kid should not be wearing it either.

  Totally agree.  I only participate in it from time to time because it can get overwhelming trying to keep up with it. Plus, we don't have as many individual threads now. I would much rather have a daily spam thread.

  I don't like Girl Scout cookies. I find them a waste of calories. Soft batch for life!

  I think this is my first UO and it's pretty lame.

  I was thinking about this when I let DD have an Oreo last night. Anyway I think moms who won't allow older infants and toddlers any sweets are whack. I'm not saying give your baby their own slice of pie, but if you're having something let that poor baby have a bite! And those who are anti first birthday cake, oh man, just wait until they have sugar for the first time when you're not around.

  Well I guess his is a UO, but I like the TOAT. I would never create a new thread for the random stuff I post. If we wanted to make it weekly we could, but I don't think it would change much. Except it would not be pinned to the top which would suck.

  My theory is I'm at least going to wait until she can ask for it. I eat a ridiculous amount of junk food and I'm really hoping I can impart better habits on DD. Right now she loves fruits and veggies and meat and dairy. Why would I want even the remote risk of sabotaging that?

  I really dislike most "funny" movies - I guess I just have a different sense of humor.  I really disliked Bridesmaids, There's Something About Mary, Anchorman, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and the list goes on...

  
  

  It's not that I dislike funny stuff.  We went to an sketch/improv comedy show the other night that was hilarious!  I just think most funny movies are dumb.

  I am not saying I will never let LO have sweets, but I see no need for them for him right now other than maybe a teething biscuit.  I am not going to judge someone who wants to give them to their kid because that is that person's decision, but I don't think people should judge me either for not wanting to give them to him yet.

  I think a lot of the wedding etiquette stuff on theknot boards is wrong and/or regional.

  I judge moms who let their kids have McDonald's 1+ times a week.  I have a relative who does this with her young children when she doesn't feel like cooking and I think it's gross. Why doesn't she go to some place like El Pollo Loco or something? Even store bought roasted chicken and some salad from the deli case? I get lazy too, but I'm not going to hit the Micky D's drive thru every time.

  Like what? I agree the ladies on the Knot as a group aren't as awesome as our June ladies. But certain things I feel are standard etiquette no matter where you are, like thank you cards.

  We don't have much to chose from where a I live at and I have a very picky 3 year old and McDonalds is pretty much the only fast food he will eat. Maybe I should've not said special treat but they don't get fast food very often so at our house it is a special treat.

  My UO is a little late but I'll go ahead and say that I'm not a fan of over baby proofing. Kids need to learn about cause and effect. If you totally protect them they'll never get that if they're not careful they're going to get hurt. I'm a fan of the basics like the little plug cover uppers and not letting the kid play with the cleaning supplies but I'm not completely rearranging my house.

  Oooh, this is a good one.  I agree, to some extent.  I do have a handyman coming next week to bolt furniture and and an 8 foot wood mirror that just leans against the wall.  Things that are life-or-death don't get the "cause and effect" pass (like gates at top of stairs), but beyond that, I probably won't pad every single pointy corner in my house.  
  
  That was my view too...until DS1 was a toddler. I believed in teaching kids what they can and can't do and although I do my best, it depends so much on your child's personality. I don't have every corner covered, but I do have more locks on doors and cabinets and toilets than I thought I would.   I have a really adventurous climber toddler who has brought me to tears a few times just from finding him in certain places. Like unlocking and opening a window on the third floor and standing on the sill while pressing against the screen. Or after he knocked out the side panel of the AC unit and was sitting in the small space between the frame and the AC just hanging out the 2nd floor. Every kid is different but if we just tried to reason and teach him not to do certain things it wouldn't work. And if we didn't take serious precautions with our windows and our furniture all being secure I have no doubt he would have had a broken neck by now or even worse. I still get the shakes thinking about seeing him trying to jump out the windows. The stakes are too high sometimes to just let them learn their lesson!

  I understand there are situations where you have to make a judgment based on your child's personality. What i can't stand is when parents have been so over the top that when a child is at someone else's house the child goes crazy getting into crap because they haven't actually been taught what's appropriate behavior.
