Darn button!

I'm just short of 10wks with #2 and today I could button my damn pants. Is this normal? Or do I need to curb the snacks? I snack a lot because it keeps the m/s at bay. I only gained 14#s with my first so I wasn't worried about my snacking. I'm chubby to begin with and had really bad m/s with my DS hence some weight loss early on. Then the only thing I craved was spinach.

Re: Darn button!

  • I am wearing the rubber band on most of my pants. I even have gotten the belly band out. I have been really bloated!

  • I meant couldn't button not could incase that wasn't obvious. I need to unearth my belly band... We just moved and are living out of boxes but it's there somewhere for now I'm rocking a hair tie extension:)

  • I've been either unable to button my pants, or my stomach has been too sensitive to handle the pressure, since about 7.5 weeks. No shame.

  • I've heard from online sources and my doctor to not diet during pregnancy. You should take to your doctor about it though. I've got lots of bloat too and have started wearing my fat pants. I don't see it as a bad thing.

Some one posted this last week. If you move the dial to the 10 week mark I bet you'll feel better. Just watch how the body changes by that stage!

That is really neat link. Really cool so see the organs too.

I feel like I'm definitely around the 10-12 mark, but feelings don't trump profession opinions :(

  • Yes, I have been pulling out my maternity pants already.  The bloat is absurd, but my midwife also said that there is a lot of muscle memory for second pregnancies, so you show faster and just in general get bigger faster.  Do not diet.

  • Each pregnacy you show earlier... My first I didn't even look pregnate during my ultrasound at 18 weeks, 2nd I could do the hair tie for my pants and my larger sweaters worked for early maternity... This time I dove into maternity at 7 week mark and haven't looked back. I started out heavier than my other two (normally can only get pregnate at 125 pounds so this one is a wicked surprise) and if have super bloat that doesn't go down.
  • I am a FTM and already bought maternity pants because my regular pants were killing me. I was (am) a healthy size 10, down from 240 pounds at my heaviest, and about 5'10". No shame. Do what feels good...it's YOUR pregnancy, don't feel judged.
  • Also a FTM and I bought maternity close last weekend.. figure I should get my moneys worth outta them and my regular pants were snug to begin with... no judging here... I am 10 weeks tomorrow and am legitimately showing whether it be baby or bloat lol...

  • Spinach, thats's an awesome craving. I wish I craved something healthy!

This is so silly, but I'm super jealous that I can't even tell that I'm getting bigger yet (well, also maybe cuz I'm not). I wear scrubs at work and yoga pants the rest of the time...so I pretty much won't need alllll those darn maternity pants I bought for growing DD. Boo hoo  :-B Enjoy your bump!

  • If you're concerned about your calories, you could count. My OB said that I only needed 200 extra calories from "maintenance" to sustain my pregnancy - so between 2,000 and 2,250.

Ask your doctor for a healthy range. Every one is different.

I usually use my fitness pal to track, but I haven't in about 2 weeks because I've been feeling so horrible.

The more important thing is to listen to your body.

  • My pants are getting tighter too and I have been having lots of food aversions and so, unfortunately, not eating a whole lot. The bloat is just in full force. I did weight myself just to see but I've actually lost 2 pounds. I think everything is just shifting around as the uterus expands for baby.

  • The last baby wanted spinach this one thinks hostess is going out of business again and we should snarf every ding dong in existence. I've been doing great at keeping her in check though in favor of preggie pops:) did find the box o maternity pants today and thanks to your support feel better about donning them this early. I knew you popped earlier with #2 I just didn't expect pants issues 6 weeks earlier.

  • I have been doing the hair band trick since about 8 weeks. In the morning, I'm usually fine, but then throughout the day the bloat gets worse & worse, so in order to be comfortable at the end of the day, I need to keep them unbuttoned. I have been wearing a lot more dresses at work too, because those are so much more comfortable.

I know its all 100% bloat, but it's very uncomfortable!

  • I gave in to the maternity pants a couple weeks ago. I'd rather feel comfortable and not have a button digging into me. I'm usually fairly small so the change is noticeable pretty quick in me.
