20 week ultrasound

Did anyone come back with enlarged ventricles or possible club feet? I need to have a level 2 ultrasound because the doctor is "concerned". Someone was supposed to call yesterday to schedule an appointment. Of course that hasn't happened yet. Research on the internet showed other possible health concerns and future special needs. I am a wreck trying to stay positive. If anyone can share their experience I would appreciate it.

Re: 20 week ultrasound

  • No experience but I hope your second ultrasound gives you some good answers! Thinking of you!

  • I was born w club feet(not a serious case). Had to have casts when I was a baby then special shoes for a few years. I just don't know anything ab enlarged ventricles. But hope that gives you some hope ab the club feet.

  • No, but my close friends' daughter was born with club feet a couple (maybe 3 now) years ago.  I'm not sure how severe they would be classified but, like @am7rice said, she went through having casts, and braces, and shoes, but her little feet look perfectly normal now.
  • No experience, by prayers that the second ultrasound provides peace of mind.

  • Good luck! My cousin's son was born with a club foot and he had casts, but is otherwise healthy now!

  • DD was diagnosed with clubfoot at 20 weeks and confirmed with a level 2 ultrasound by MFM around 24 weeks or so.  She was born with normal feet and just had them scrunched up inside.  Hoping for something similar for you.  I remember what a difficult time it was for us.

  • Big huge hugs!!!! I know it is scary and the wait sucks. I know many babies have concerning features during development, but are born completely healthy and there's no reason this can't be your positive outcome, too. Hang in there, mama!
  • I spoke with my genetic counselor today and she stated the baby's ventricles are enlarged just slightly.  Normal is 10 and she is at 11. So minor concern there. I am scheduled for my Level II Ultrasound tomorrow at 1:30pm. Thank you for all your kinds words. I will keep you updated. I am hoping for just scrunched up feet, because she is almost two weeks ahead of where they originally had her due date.
  • My little sister was born with a bad case of club feet. Her feet were almost completely backwards. She was in casts for the first 6 months I believe and then braces off and on... Along with a few surgeries. But she didn't let that stop her and you can't tell really at all. She has been in cheerleading and dance most of her life and now is a cheerleader for her college. She is very active and club feet hasn't affected her life really at all. I hope that you get the answers you need and I wish you lots of luck! :)

  • Hey there! So this is officially my first post! Not sure if you have found out if your little one does have clubfeet, but wanted to reach out and let you know that it will all be a-okay if they do. My son, now 20 months old, was born with a left clubfoot. I'd be happy to offer any advice or answer any questions, if needed. Best of luck with your pregnancy!
  • Not personally, but there is a way to treat club foot without invasive procedures that have been used for years. If you're concerned about that treatment, you'd likely find info on google. I'm sorry I can't remember more details about what I read.
