I use an ice cream scoop to scoop the balls out. Roll them by hand. Then freeze them for a little bit so they hold a good shape. When you are going to stick them, melt some chocolate. Dip the end of the stick in chocolate and then stick it into the center of the cake ball. Then I usually stick them back in the freezer so that I can dip them into chocolate without them losing their shape.

One more question, when you hand roll them, do you use a couple of spoonfuls of frosting...? I watched a how-to video on YouTube and they add frosting. (Should have watched this before I went to the store!)
I didn't think to buy frosting at the store and the only frosting I have doesn't "match" the cake flavor (strawberry cake mix and orange frosting). So do I... A) not use frosting use the orange, it will taste good C) go back to the store after nap time

You are using melting chocolate for dipping right?
Here are the basic steps for cake pops.
Bake cake. Let cake cool. Crumble cake in big bowl. Add about 1/2 tub of frosting. Mush together with your hands. Put into fridge and allow to chill. Take out a little at a time, roll into balls and put back in fridge. Continue until all balls are formed. Melt chocolate. Dip cake balls and allow chocolate to dry. (add sprinkles when chocolate is still melted)
I would just use the orange and strawberry. They will still be delicious.
Yes, I'm using melting chocolate for the coating. When I've used the cake pop molds in the past, it doesn't require frosting because they are already shaped...so I didn't think about needing frosting.
Thanks @LatteLady5

The frosting makes it the most moist, delicious, treat every though of! My husband doesn't like cake much but he loves cake pops. If they weren't so time consuming I'd make them more often
I just made some last week. Hand roll all the way. So glad I didn't buy the cake pop mold. Also only use about 2 tablespoons of frosting otherwise it is too mushy unless you like it like that. Mine were delicious. Also get some sprinkles bc they cover all imperfections.
