NWMR: Do you bring a gift to a gender reveal party?

My friend just texted me that question and I have no idea. I've never been to such a....bash. Thoughts?

  • Ha ha! I don't think so. Perhaps a snack, bottle of wine etc for the party, but not a baby gift.

NO! no no no. Showers are gift giving events. Not sex reveals.
  • Thanks ladies! :)

  • yeah, i agree with both of you guys. And my poor friend is feeling the same way. The revealers are BFs of HER sister so really quite out of the circle of anyone that would care.

  • I think it's an excuse to throw a party. I can support that.

  • No, no gift. But I also wouldn't go to one, so there's that.

She does realize that she doesn't have to go, right?

In my experience, the type of people who throw a sex reveal party are the type of people who get offended that you don't want to go to their sex reveal party.

  • agree with PPs. you dont have to bring a gift, but if you want to be polite you may bring some pastries or sparkling non alcoholic bev. Id be weirded out though if ill be invited to one, especially if im not close to the celebrators. cant they wait for their shower or something?? and yes the people who throw parties like these are the same people who will get offended if you dont show up. hahaha

i love you, my little mooncake mahal kita

  • LOL. The whole concept is so silly. I guess I could see it with immediate family but a party is just so self indulgent.
So no, I wouldn't bring a gift. I would treat it like any other party I guess though and bring a bottle of wine or some other host gift.

Then I'd let them be offended!  ;)  I don't live my life to go to parties of people who are throwing a questionable party in the first place and then would dare to be offended if I don't go.
