Just thought I'd do a little follow up post for everyone who had an IUGR baby (I'm assuming we've all had our babies.) to see how your LO is doing.
Alexander was born at 37 weeks via c-section. He was 4 lbs, 15 oz at birth. At his 1 month appointment (2 weeks ago), he was 6 lbs, 15 oz. He's been doing well. He's a good eater and eats anywhere from 2.5-4 oz at a time. He is pretty good at supporting his head and likes tummy time. He still doesn't look at us in the eye or smile, but I'm hoping those will come soon.
Re: IUGR ladies - how is LO doing?
My little Lilly was born at 38 weeks at 4lbs 12oz. At her One month appointment two weeks ago she weighed in at 7lbs. I'm guessing now she's about 7.5 and we'll see where she's at in two weeks.
She's been doing well other than her milk protein allergy that is still causing her a lot of fussiness. I have eliminated dairy from my diet two weeks ago now (with a few accidental slip ups due to me not knowing something had milk in it), so I'm hoping she'll be feeling better soon. It breaks my heart seeing her in pain when she's eating.
She started smiling yesterday and it melted my heart. Now my DH and I are constantly trying to get a smile out of her.
While we were at her appt my LO had a dirty diaper. So the pedi tested her stool for the milk protein allergy. I don't know exactly how they tested it, but it came back positive. So I eliminated dairy from my diet. It's been two weeks now and I'm still seeing her act the same. Which is disappointing. It may be a little better, but not fully. The pedi also said that a lot of babies who have the milk allergy also have a soy allergy. Hopefully I won't have to eliminate soy as well.
Dominic was 3lb 11oz and Jackson was 5lb 7oz. Born at 35+5.
At 6 weeks, Dominic was 7lbs! Our big boy Jackson was almost 9.
Dominic was having some issues eating before he left the nicu, but is now doing great. I'm breastfeeding part time and supplementing with formula. They're both doing great in that area, but they've both been diagnosed with infant torticollis, so new issues to work on.
Ugh, I also hear that rumbling. I feel so bad for her. I hope your LO's stomach settles down soon!
Just curious, were you breastfeeding before the formula? And which formula is she on? I'm thinking I may switch to formula once I'm back to work and am curious as to the options and how the switch worked out.
