A comment on the bump wide UO thread has me wondering: Do you ever rewear your pants before washing them?

I will rewear my pajama pants a few times since I just wear them inside, and when I used to wear jeans a lot in college, I would often rewear them twice because I found that the thicker material was less like to pick up stains and smells (sweat, etc.)  Dress pants for work I never rewear without washing them.  Weekend pants, if I go out for just a couple of hours, I will sometimes rewear them, but otherwise, they need to be washed.

ETA: But I am scuzzy when it comes to bras because I will rewear them a couple times without washing them because they always just smell like deodorant. I find if I wash them too often, they fall apart more quickly. My reasoning doesn't really make sense because if anything, bras are closer to your skin than pants!
  • I have a 2 time wearing policy, as long as I am wearing underwear with the pants. Otherwise I would shrink all my pants way too early. I take terrible care of my clothes...

  • 2 day rule here too. This goes for jeans and work pants. I don't sleep in my pajama pants, just wear them before bed and in the morning before a shower, so i usually go 5-7 days before washing.

Everything I'm wearing right now except my underwear is being reworn...
  • I'll go until they are visibly dirty or misshapen or smell :).  Most pants I feel like shrink every time I wash them, even if I wash on cold and hang dry, and end up not as comfy so I try to avoid washing when possible.  I like to think it's better for the clothes if you wash them less :)

  • FFTC: I sniff my clothes before putting them on. If they aren't visibly dirty or don't smell, they get reworn. I hate doing laundry. I should have been born a man, because I'm kind of gross and lazy.

Except underwear. I change those at least 1-2 times per day because I have standards.
  • Jeans i'll wear 3 times, sometimes 4. I normally have lounge pants on when i'm home, which is most of the day. I'll wear those for 2 days straight, or once it gets spit up or some type of food DD is eating that day.

I judge anyone with the time and/or energy to wash their jeans after every wearing. Also, if you do wash every time, I am jealous of your wardrobe because I would be pantsless for days waiting for my 2 pairs of jeans to hang dry.
Why do you hang dry?  Not trying to be snarky, just curious. I only hang dry bras and shirts that specify it on the tag.  Never pants.

Oh and in case anyone was wondering, what made me wonder about this was because someone on the Bump-wide UO thread said she could never go commando because then she would have to wash her pants every day.

My guessing the reason why she hangs dry is because jeans shrink when they go in the dryer. I hate when you put on a fresh pair of pants, and you have that muffin top for a while because they aren't worn in and stretched.

  • Um... My work pants are dry clean only, so they rarely get washed. And right now I only have a few pairs that fit. As for jeans, I will wear them for a week or so until washing (not full time, but in the evenings and on the weekends). If things don't smell and aren't dirty, I don't see the point. I think it actually wears out the clothes to wash them too often!
  • DH likes to wear his underwear for more than a day. I mean, that's pretty nasty. lol. I have to force them off him. Socks too.

  • When I was a professional working woman I would have dry cleaners pick up my suits weekly and drop them off as I couldn't bear to wear them more than one time. I was torn because I know dry cleaning chemicals aren't the best for you but mentally I couldn't re-wear the same outfit without having it cleansed. I have issues.

Ummm... I wear my jeans like 10 times before washing if they aren't visibly dirty. I mean, I live in a dry, cold climate, so I'm not sweating in them, but by everyone's standards here, I guess I'm disgusting.
