This is ridiculous

It was 9:30pm and the only thing that sounded decent to my upset stomach was an Arby's roast beef sandwich.. The nearest one is about 10 minutes away so being a good sport DH drove me to get my first pregnancy craving. We got to the window to pay and he asked if I had my wallet. Neither of us did.. I proceeded to cry profusely until we got home. I couldn't help it! The entire drive DH looked like a sad puppy. I'm now sitting in bed while he's off on a second food run that he insisted on getting. What a sweet man. Meanwhile I'm feeling like quite the pregnant cliche. Crying over food? this is ridiculous.

Re: This is ridiculous

  • I've cried because I felt hungry again after just eating but I just didn't feel like eating again. It was quite funny. My SO went and got my favorite cookies for me from the store so that even though I didn't feel like eating it wasn't too bad even though I had to stick myself for insulin again.

  • What a great DH! Mine would probably just roll his eyes and say I was being dramatic :( I had a dream last night that Target was out of materinity leggings and I proceeded to cry profusely. Good thing that didn't actually happen!

  • haha I'm glad I'm not the only one.. then again I knew better than to think I was a special snowflake crying over food. lol. DH was such a good sport I think he deserves cookies today.
  • That was sweet of your DH.  MH is super thoughtful and sweet and yet I dont think he would do that for me haha.  I can relate though:

Last week, I ordered a small pizza from the local pizza place.  It was supposed to have sausage and green peppers on it.  DH ordered a meatball sandwich.  When said pizza got to the house, it was a pulled pork and bbq sauce pizza.  I litterally freaked out, and threw a bit of a 2 min tantum and started to cry haha.  DH sat there stunned (this is not par for the course for me when Im not preg).  He offered to split his sandwich.  I told him just forget it that I wanted him to have enough to eat.  He offered to go take the pizza back.  Nothing he offered made sense to me haha.  Finally he had to get tough with me and tell me he gave me a bunch of options, I just needed to pick one so I could eat and feel better.  I had half the sandwich.

  • While I was pregnant vwith DD#3 I made chili and got upset when I found out we only had saltines and were out of oyster crackers because DH prefers oyster. He said he didn't care which upset me more (to the point of sobbing hysterically) because I didn't know he didn't care about the type of crackers and therefore didn't know him at all.
I knew it was ridiculous while it was happening but I was crying and truly upset but DH's face regarding it was making me laugh at the same time. It never happened in my first pregnancies and is now known as "The Cracker Epidemic" LOL

Absolutely in love with our 'big' family!

I'm also a proud Auntie to a crazy little girl, her brand new baby sister, a little man on his way in the next month, and a sweet little mister we will miss forever!!!
  • The other night the only thing that sounded good was a Whopper... I made sad eyes at my husband until he agreed to drive me (I hurt my back so I've pretty much stopped driving).  We had food at the house and he kept trying to get me to agree to something we already had... but no, I wanted a whopper and damnit I was gonna get that!  No tears involved though.

But, any time he's being normal-sweet (not over the top, just like "hey, let me top off your water glass" sweet) I tear up.

Sounds like you got a good one (meaning your husband)!  I cried once over a caesar salad at boston market and I wasn't even pregnant I just had a bad day so you're story isn't so ridiculous after all.

  • I cried during my first pregnancy because it was 10:31 and McDonald's wouldn't serve breakfast, and this pregnancy because H put protein powder in my Jamba Juice and it tasted funky. It happens. :-)

  • ^^^^ I was just going to post about how I missed McDonalds breakfast by a couple minutes because this guy took forever to order. I was on my break at work (taco bell) and was almost crying when I got back because I missed it and now only had a few minutes to eat food I didn't want. I think my boss thought I was crazy but let me have a longer break so I could eat. Haha.

I found out I was pregnant a few days later and it all made sense! No crying spells after that, though.

  • I feel compelled to share my food crying story.

About 3 weeks ago, I was exhausted from the constant nausea and, once again, I couldn't eat the lunch I had brought to work. I decided to go home and rest, and on the way the only thing that sounded good was a chipotle salad, so I got one. Once I got home, I changed into some comfy clothes, sat down on the couch, and opened the bag only to find out there was no salad dressing- they had left it on the counter. I proceeded to cry for well over 15 minutes. I was telling my dogs I was going to call the corporate office (along other things....) and must have sounded insane while texting my husband about the worst thing that had ever happened to me.

Now I laugh about it. A lot. What else can we do when our hormones are taking us for a ride and finding foods that's don't make your stomach turn are few and far in between?!? You're in good company :)
  • Mine isn't a good story but it is a cry story that happened at a restaurant...

We were on the tail end of a long family vacation and went to eat dinner. This was almost towards the end of my pregnancy and I could barely eat so I asked for a kids menu. I get the menu and I'm doing the stupid word search. I'm not one to go down the list - I just find the ones in the letters myself. So I get to "Route 66" or something like that and I'm sitting there in silencer trying to figure out what I'm looking at. I start bawling and my mom notices and asks what's wrong. "I don't know what letter that is! What letter is that?!? What's wrong with me?"

    Moron. ROUTE 66! It's a freaking number.

    Haven't loved that one down....

That place is worth the flight. Next time, book it without hesitation. We drove nearly 3 hours to eat there last time I was pregnant!

That's what I'm talking about! Worst part: 3 hour food coma on the drive home!
  • So...last night my MIL made a turkey dinner that was awesome. I had a normal plate, then went back for a little bit of seconds as did DH. After that he looks at me all happy and says "I'm soo full". And then I start crying because I'm full too but I want to eat more turkey. WTF?!? Everyone thinks I'm nuts now.

Seconded! It was about an hour and a half away from me when I lived in Ohio, and it was amazing. I'd go back to Ohio just for that.
