Used to, but not anymore. He just decided he didn't want it anymore and we never looked back.
However, in desperation I did stick it in his mouth 2 months ago hoping he would take it and start sleeping better, but he spit it out and looked at me like I was a lunatic.
This kid had a binkie in his mouth as soon as he was extubated. And after his second and third surgeries, we used some heavy-duty medical scissors to cut the edge off a bink so it would fit in his mouth alongside the ventilator. Bink for lyfe, yo.

This kid may not have a lot of bowel, but he has plenty of guts! DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome. 131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....
We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.
E's refused a pacifier since day one. We tried to give her one in the hospital and I swear that she gave me the evil eye for trying it. She's always been a finger sucker.
LO always has one, 24/7. anything to help my kids sleep, I am allll for it. DS1 kept his until sometime last fall (27 mos or so)--wasn't too hard to wean him off it though, we just kinda said one day "big boys don't use pacis" and never looked back.
Last summer one of our friends was trying to get her 2yo to give up her pacis but was struggling. So she told her that baby Lucas needed her pacis because he was sick and they would make him feel better - and the 2yo packed all her binks in a teensy gift bag and brought them to our house! It was maybe the most adorable thing ever.
We held on to them for a few days in case of binkmergency, but she didn't need them after that.

I am really trying to get LO to cutback on her paci reliance but am failing miserably. It is definitely the magic cure-all for whenever she is upset. We give her one at night and she will wake up and find it and stick it in her mouth while her eyes are still closed!

We use it just for sleep and in the car. We did the same with DS1 and took it away around 11 months without any trouble. Hoping it will be just as easy with DS2
@MRads that's what my LO used to do. He never actually slept with the paci, just needed it to get to the falling asleep point and then he had no use for it any more.
She was given one in the hospital when she was born, then we didn't use one for a while when we got home, but we've been using one since she was two weeks old or so. We only use it during bedtime and sometimes naps tho'.
Parker uses one, but nothing like Josephine. He uses it when he fusses at night and it's not time for a feed, other than that, not at all. Josephine had hers 24/7. It never mattered how many were in her crib, she'd lose them and I'd end up in there to give it back to her.
He would never take one. Just spit it out. A few months ago he started sucking his thumb to self soothe, but only did that for about 2 weeks and decided he was done with that too.
At times I feel like it would've been nice to help calm him and so he wouldn't use me as his pacifier, but I am grateful that we won't have to break him of the habit now. DD also would never take one.
Yeah. He uses a pacifier for all naps and all night long, except in our house it's called a boob.

Both my kids gave them up at about 5 months. Really irritating when they still need something and that something is now your boob. But I am glad I don't have that fight on my hands now. Weaning is hard y'all. Mimi, stop my heart from sweetness.
She took one for the first couple weeks, then refused them between 2 and 4 months. We only give them to her for nap and bed times, and she very often spits them out after he gets into a deep sleep. I keep one for car rides in case she is tired while riding.
Gavin uses one fairly regularly, but is not one to freak if he doesnt have one. I am hoping this will bode well for me when I cold turkey him at around a year.
@sdtchica13 sorry! I thought those options might have covered it all, but I guess all CPWs need a SS option. Always. haha
@mimi4347 That is soooooooooooo cute! Adorableness overload here.
@NKaeding How do you keep them in the crib? It is like the land of long lost binks behind Sully's crib. Every couple of days I have to get back there and clean them out.
Sully has always used them. Recently he has started popping his thumb through the center of the nuk when he sucks. We call it his "thumb condom". He won't just suck on his thumb, though. I guess the kid is already learning safe sucking practices.
He uses one for naps. I nurse him to sleep at bedtime so he is out, but as soon as that first sleep cycle is up, he needs his paci to fall back asleep.

Luke plays Plinko with his binks and his crib rails while falling asleep. We have an arsenal of 15 at the ready but he has incredible aim so some nights we go through almost all of them before he goes to sleep.
I've threatened to start labeling the slots. What should DH and I play for, J13? MOTN diaper duty? Household chores? Sexual favors? (is that totally inappropriate to combine with bedtime?)

A didn't want one at first, then he had to have it to nap. Now he just shoves the entire thing in his mouth sideways. It looks like a little mouth guard.
A has some in his crib and random ones elsewhere. I keep an emergency one in my purse. His ideal relaxation activity is sucking his paci while lying on his belly in his crib watching his aquarium. He loves to suck his thumb and I am hoping the paci will be an easier habit to break.
Our mesh bumper keeps the paci from falling out of the crib.
I've tried putting an extra paci in there with her, but she got worked up because she had one in her mouth and got upset because she couldn't get the one in her hand into her mouth also. #-o
