Today is DS's birthday and I spoke with the daycare teacher while they were having cupcakes(it was a triple birthday and DS shares a birthday with a set of twins). She told me that DS was telling her he was going to have blue cake today for his birthday and he was asking her about the cupcakes after nap time.
DS was sitting next to another little boy during the cupcakes and they were playing with the Spiderman rings from their cupcakes. The teacher said they will have our cupcakes tomorrow since they were packaged.
DS1 had his school district testing last Friday! They are giving him the educational autism diagnosis. Also they did a nonverbal IQ test on him for the first time and he scored a 121!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so proud of my very smart little boy!

Dx: ASD, SPD and receptive and expressive speech delay at 21 months
Being Chris's mom I've forced myself to stop reading those 'milestone' bulletins from sites like babycenter that list what your child should be doing by age ___ so I don't actually know if this is on target for him, delayed or what have you.
I just know he did it tonight, surprised me and made me feel so proud.
He asked me for his markers so I brought them out and gave him some printer paper and I heard him going "1, 2, 3 ..." all the way up to 20 and I thought he was just scribbling on the paper pretending to write numbers and then I look over as he's doing it again and I see his hand moving in what looks like the appropriate motion for an 8. So I watch him and HE'S ACTUALLY WRITING THE NUMBERS. Granted he writes them one on top of the other and all over the place but he can actually write them.
Hey ladies! I know I have been around much lately but I just started back to work after a seriously shortened mat leave and things are crazy busy!!
My brag is that the other moms at our library group are noticing ds's increase in speaking! And last week at his speech session he did so amazingly. He is diagnosed with childhood apraxia of speech, and he was able to string together three sounds and use hard endings to words. I can't believe the progress we've made since November!
DD1 had an awesome report for school today. She even got to be the line leader. I don't remember the last time we've had a positive report, so, that was awesome.
DD1 has been a downright chatterbox lately telling me about her school day. Yesterday she informed me that on Fridays she plays dragons with Isaac but most days she plays with three of the girls in her class. She has a social calendar, lol.
The other day we were talking about how her grandparents are coming to visit soon, and she said, "Mama, when I grow up and I'm a mama, will you be the grandma for my babies?" Not fact-checking but as in, "would you do this for me". I told her "of course!" That kiddo is so, so sweet.
I received a text from DDs BCBA that said she was "Absolutely blown away" after reviewing DDs skills aquistion graph. Made my heart swell , now I think this may also be because some of the things they are teaching her she actually already knew, but I can still celebrate right? We have our first monthly meeting on 3/11, I'm so excited to hear more about how shes doing, her daily report sheets are always steller but I sometimes wonder what their expectations are of her. I know for sure she has learned some new personal information, she now knows her address and what my first name is, its pretty cute to hear. My 2nd brag is related to our shopping trip to Target yesterday. She stayed right with me the entire time, I didn't have to hold her hand even once. If I told her to stay close she did, if I said "Slow down" she came back, it was amazing.
I was able to cook (15-20 min) a warm meal with only a few kitchen interruptions while DD was copying me with the non-in use kitchen tools and a sounds book THEN she SAT for dinner only getting out/falling of her chair 3 times and answered my questions during the meal! This is banner for her and it was great to eat a warm meal and actually eat it with her too.
Needed to repeat that brag as today was a whole other story :P
