  It's not that expensive and we haven't had any problems. Awhile back, I thought we were having battery issues but it was just that one day and haven't had any problems since.   I LOVE LOVE LOVE having a video monitor.  TOTALLY worth the money IMO.

  They did send me a replacement, but it took 4 weeks!!! Grrrr X(! The monitor worked but the sound went out. I had to buy a separate sound monitor in the meantime. It was crazy because it broke on Christmas morning. When it works it's awesome!!

  I have this one and love it. It beeps loud enough to wake you up if it loses signal to the camera (like if the power goes out). It can interfere with Wi-Fi, but there are directions for how to fix that if it is an issue. It also has an auto mute function to eliminate background noise and a power save function where the video shuts off until it hears a new noise and turns on again.

  I bought a Safety First video monitor second hand.  The original owner still had the receipt in it it ws $259 (here in Canada so I'm sure it is cheaper for my American friends) and I LOVED it for the 6 days it worked.  Now I need another one!!

  We have the Motorola also. We do not have the WIFI one, just the regular video monitor. We love it, I especially love that I can turn on music through the monitor to help him go back to sleep without ever getting up. After reading about people hacking into WIFI baby monitors and watching kids, I'm way creeped out by the those.

  I have a Lorex and it works wonderful! It has night vision. I bought it off of a used site for $100 but I think they retail for $250 or more.

  
  

  I would highly recommend one with night vision and I really like the idea of the ones that the ladies suggested above that can go on wifi so you can check with your phone or iPad etc…  I'll be doing that for #2
