Removing MOTN Feed and Nursing Before Daycare

I've been waking DD who is 12 weeks old for a feeding around 1:30am because I've had 6 weeks of Mastitis and abscesses so I am trying to get the plugged ducts out. I think I'm finally resolving this issue. Therefore, I would like to remove this MOTN feed. I think DD would probably STTN if I let her. I'm gradually increasing the time between feeds so that MOTN is pushed further and further into the early morning hours. However, daycare requires she be fed before arriving so I have to nurse her at 6:15am. Any tips on how to gradually increase the time between the feed in MOTN without her wanting to eat at say 5:00am when she needs to be fed again at 6:15am? Not sure how to handle that should that issue ever arise.

    Most breastfed babies do not sttn at 12 weeks. I would just nurse on demand, I dont think you need to wake her to feed her though. As far as feeding before daycare, I always feed LO before. Even if she ate at 430 am, I offer the breast again at 6 which is about an hour before we leave.

    Ah sorry, I should clarify STTN. I meant the definition of AAP which I think is about 6 hours? DD is pretty close to doing that now. Yeah I want to nurse on demand but LC is suggesting I make it gradual to help prevent Mastitis again.

    Thanks for the suggestion, so sounds like your baby was OK with feedings close together then?

    My 7 month old ebf baby doesn't sttn.

    He also goes to dc. I just feed him when he wakes and offer the breast in the car before Dc. It has been working fine for the last 3 months.

    Agreed with pp. I feed on demand in the AM and offer again before I leave for work regardless of when he last ate. We have a private sitter that comes to our home. The only thing I've run into is sometimes he just "snacks" at the last feeding before I leave, so then he is hungry sooner than what he would be typically. I would just my DC aware of this.

    yes she is fine with eating again soon after. Sometimes it's just a top off or snack and I just let daycare know she ate lightly at 6 or sometimes if she had a full session at 5 and snacked at 6, I'll tell them she last ate at 530ish. But, they know to feed her on demand as well, though at 9 months that's sometimes a bottle of expressed milk and is sometimes solid food.

    Ah ok, so it could be a "snack" if feedings were close together. So helpful, thanks guys!
